I seriously feel like bike experience helps in these situations. I used to get in gnarly tank-slappers on my 1980 RM80 and learned the physics. If you panic and stomp the brakes, or over-correct with the steering, you're fucked! I'm still having visions ... more »

Oh wow- okay. I didn't think about that. See, that's why I come here. I didn't have much gear in the RV. If I do put stuff in there, I'll put it toward the front. The section of highway I was on is sketchy to begin with because it has a wall with literally ... more »

This morning I was coming down a long hill, towing my R-Pod (see photo) and the thing started fishtailing. It's similar to a speed wobble on a bike where slowing down makes it worse, but you can't speed up either. You can feel the fishtail building like ... more »

When I saw the puddle, I knew what was coming. Nothing like muddy water down your pants.

This vid gave me the rare goosebumps. This reminds me of what makes motocross awesome, and it's not tractoring through a turn at 3K rpm. https://youtu.be/UU-V0A8Q8JY

He doesn't look right on a Woody Woodpecker Honda. It suited RC much better.

grin
The look on his face doesn't seem to indicate he loves that bike.

It's amazing what a pic of JS7 can set off in the forum, years after he retired.

Imagine sitting on a dirt bike knowing you were one of the best ever in history to ride one of those things. The man still radiates epicness.

It doesn't say much for our sport when a guy makes a major investment for an event and gets there and the organizers allow blatant cheating, then he gets attacked by another rider. GH should get its act together and stop acting like MX royalty that can ... more »

He's wearing a Yamaha hat- was he still with Yamaha when this was recorded? That's a head-scratcher.

I've been studying him for a long time, and in the earlier days he didn't have the "touch" that many top drummers have. He was a powerhouse drummer that lost a lot of energy in the way he smacked the shit out of the drums. He also hunched pretty badly. ... more »

I don't think the other rider was waving to people- you can see he got the blue flag, he was holding his hand up (standard lapper signal) and going to the side, which is pretty much what you're supposed to do. Not trying to indict Alessi here, just a ... more »

I suppose, but still, who follows right behind a guy over a jump when he should be aware there were slower riders out there? Like the guy he blew past in the turn before this. You would think Alessi would know better than to just plow into a guy in front ... more »

I'm enough of a Peart geek to know this would have been around 1991, when he was touring for Roll The Bones. He was an amazing innovator. What's scary is how good he was right out of the box when just beginning. He was like Bonham, Keith Moon and Bill ... more »

Glen Helen has always had this Wild West reputation. It's unfortunate, because as one of the most prominent mx tracks in the nation, and the MXA connection etc., it could really be the gold standard for safety and organization. Instead, the opposite ... more »
