I think manufacturers needs make dirt bikes more profitable for dealerships, and encourage said dealerships to cater more towards the dirt bike market.

I seem to remember the 259 bike in 2001 always having the Chevy Trucks Kawasaki graphics. Only remember him running the PC graphics at LL. But that was 18 years ago, so maybe my memory is starting to slip.
