Cleaned up the engine and took a peek inside:

Cylinder had these interesting markings above the exhaust ports. Not really sure what caused it?? Overall seemed like acceptable wear on the cylinder. No ... more »

Cleaned up the throttle, installed a OEM style grip, a new Motion Pro cable and installed the carb and got cable adjusted. Also installed the new UNI filter and a gas tank strap from 2004 CR250R. The CR500R strap was discontinued, and this one was only

Can't argue with that one! Nice score.

Will it have the FX logo in the graphic? That's the only thing that bugs me with their replica graphics

Mag wheel spray cleaner. I've never had it actually clean anything and almost gave up on it, but it sure did work this time.

If you aren't too picky on the details, I would suggest EVO MX. They won't be able to replicate the metallic silver, but a flat gray doesn't look too bad. Here are some 2002 graphics they did for me recently.

Tore into the carb. Notice the kink in the throttle cable!

Nothing out of the ordinary. Back together with fresh vent lines. I noted the jetting too: A/S = 1.5 Pilot = 52 Main = 172 Clip = 3 Needle = R7468N "S" Choke = didn't ... more »

I took the airbox back off to address the hole in the side and the crack on the bottom. I figured I'm handy enough that I can do anything, so I why not just fill the hole with melted plastic and sand it out?? I used a toothbrush that had seen better

I didn't have any lacquer thinner otherwise I probably would have tried it. The brake cleaner did evaporate quickly but that was ok because it was making the plastic soft. The sanding made the gummy plastic ball up and roll away. Then iI would spray ... more »

I'm so jealous of this bike. I didn't pay attention to KTM until right about 1996 when a local dealer opened up and started selling them hard and by then they were always butterscotch and orange. I knew of the older white/red/teal bikes from obscure ... more »

I usually wait until the bike is done before putting the graphics on it, but they weren't storing very well so I figured why not?

These aren't the best pictures, but I ended up getting the stains out. I had to wetsand with brake cleaner if you can believe that. I also got the deformed and damaged area straight. I haven't figured out how to mend the crack (and make it look better!!!)

There was one local to me for $900 in running condition (rough). Had I known the parts would be easier to find I may have scooped it up.

I was hoping the airbox would go just as smoothly. Nope. The only good thing about it was my caked-with-dirt uni filter looks to be pretty new. I bought a new one, expecting the worst, but I'll keep this one for a spare. The airbox didn't clean up as

Wow, great site JMX82! I was just talking about a 92 KTM yesterday to a friend and the conversation ended with, "But I wouldn't know where to get half the stuff from." It's good to know there is stuff out there.

TooOld4WFO, I bought new radiator guards as those were missing on my bike. I think they were about $35/each from Honda. As for plastic polish, I use Novus. Good info Bearuno! The KTM pegs are also cheap, I got my last set for $13 shipped on Ebay. As ... more »

I worked on the tank tonight and it turned out pretty good for amazingly little effort. I scrubbed it with a toothbrush and simple green to clean it. After a half hour and a rinse, I wiped the stained areas with mineral spirits and a rag. That cut through
