Isn't the frame coated with something? I wondered if aluminum brightener would go through the coating or not?

Can someone point me to a source of info that kind of glosses through the evolution of forks? I'm mainly interested in the Showa and KYB stuff that the jap bikes evolved through the 80's-90's and 2000's. Just wondering what stuff worked and what didn't. ... more »

Plus, dealers don't care if you are being responsible or not. They don't even care if the bike gets repo'd in 3 months. So we have clearly established that people going to the dealerships aren't dealing in cash. I'm still curious how many people are ... more »

Yeah, invest in a set of OEM radiators before selling!

I didn't mean to get the conversation spinning off into the "Should you finance or not" debate....I was simply wondering what are your friends doing. OF the guys you know, how many are riding bikes they paid cash for or are they financing. This could ... more »

In each of your experiences, what percentage of the dirtbike purchasing population are making purchases with cash vs. financing. In the case of financing, I don't really care why they are doing so (no other way to afford vs. taking advantage of incentives, ... more »

Thanks. What is the max pressure you allow before starting to freak out?

Do you pressurize it to 50, then add heat? Or are you just capping the ends and the heat builds to 50 psi on it's own?

I think it looks fine, albeit the tail section looks like a CRF or KXF now.

I honestly don't know sales figures, but you can't just put it all on the consumer. A lot of things were happening in 2005. The big class was finally moving full bore to the thumpers. Suzuki was rushing to come out with a 450F, Kawasaki still hadn't ... more »

What is funny is yes, the OEM's want to sell dirtbikes, but they don't want to sell two strokes. And if they have to pull out of racing to keep from doing so, I think it's likely (especially Honda). They are fully invested in the thumpers, and more two ... more »

If both bikes were allowed to race, I do agree that a 250F would wax a 250T straight up. But that won't be the last word on the subject. Remember, how long it took the thumper to dominate in the big class? Henry won in 1997 on the "revolutionary" new

It made more like 49HP, about what they make now (after all that R&D). But like I said earlier, if DV12's dad can make a stock (2010?) YZ250 go from 45HP to 53HP, surely KTM could improve on that number. .

Mike Landman is still off base with this "A stock 250 four-stroke out of the box, is anywhere from 35, 36 to 38hp and a stock 250 two-stroke is 8-10 more horses than that. It is possible to get a 250 four-stroke to about 40 or 41hp but you can increase ... more »

That is awesome! I wondered if Mitch was making over 50HP or not. A few years ago DV12's dad was getting 54HP out of a YZ250 (the same motor for 2014). That was the bike Cedric was supposed to race in the states. And I'm sure it cost a hell of a lot

Agree 100%. I think he's frustrated mentally and needs to clear his head out. I also think that if he put together a less serious ride, with less pressure, he would perform better than people expected.
