Thanks man...but its got a long way to go still. I cant wait to see the graphics on it...whenever they get done.

Thanks Chuckie. This bike was fairly complete, however it was missing a mudflap. I don't even have great pictures of one, but sort of figured out what it should look like and I know it should be white. I mocked up a template with an old cereal box and

Added reply in a thread how to pain a motocross frame 4/25/2020 8:02 AM

Pics of the frame would help. If its already a painted steel frame, new paint will adhere to the old pretty good. No sense in peeling that away. Just use a steel brush and some solvents to flake away the loose stuff. If you have an abrupt transition ... more »

Im also blown away at the quality of these "straight from China" riser adapters. Ive been using Rox Risers on several bikes now, but those are $85 and rarely go under $80. I was going to try a Zeta brand for $45, but these were $26 shipped. They are

Had to install the forks in order to address the brake line, which was twisted up pretty bad. The shielding was also damaged just below the guide that mounts to the steering stem. That stuff is brittle like glass so I used a pipe cutter to cut about

I havent torn into the carb yet, but the outside is clean so I mocked up the airbox to see how it was all fitting. The airbox side has a 2.75 inch outlet and the carb has a 2.5 inch inlet. The prior owner had a conglomeration of zippy ties and a janky

Added reply in a thread Do you use t-handles? 4/19/2020 6:02 PM

Ive got Vessels. That knurled section on the shaft should be mandatory on all screwdrivers!

Added reply in a thread Do you use t-handles? 4/19/2020 8:00 AM

I think that sums up my relationship with t-handles. If I use the 1/4 ratchet, I never have to go get a 1/4 ratchet. I've never been comfortable using t's, but I'm jealous of those who zip around a bike with them.

Thats all. Just wondering if you use t-handles or 8, 10, 12 mm sockets.

Cleaning up the Mikuni TM.

Good luck and I mean that sincerely. Starting with a basketcase is going to be harder than a fully assembled bike that needs work. If you don't care how long it takes you then go for it, but I would not expect to be riding this bike right away.

I can get another ATK shifter and use as a donor (or another shifter from a different bike) but its such a simple part I cant see the point in using a donor. My splines are good and I think I can get the folding tip working again.

"Oh, I took it as you were going to use the ringy section on the spline." For phucks sake...thats the section I wont use. Gesus...its like you dont even know me. Can you post a pic or link to the Swed Husky shifters you are talking about. I'm curious ... more »

Gas tank is done. Ive done some thorough refurbishing on tanks before but for this one I gave it a quick polish job. I just dont have the patience to remove all the little imperfections anymore. The seat mounts up ok. I was interested in seeing how all

Lol...I may be Herman Munster in height but my size 13 is somewhat normal. I was only talking about using the thin section of steel in the middle of that wrench. I like the long skinny profile because it will be friendlier to the engine case during the ... more »

I slapped the pegs on to check the shifter lever. Yeah this isn't going to work. Its too short, its twisted up and the tip was welded so it wont fold anymore.

As I was contemplated options I couldn't help but notice how nice this offset Craftsman ... more »

Got the triple clamps cleaned up. The lower was missing a steering stop bolt, but other than a good cleaning, everything looked to be in good shape. I'm reusing the bearings and races. The frame rubbers for the gas tank came from a 96-00 RM parts lot.

I will probably have to buy some new parts for the upper. The lower was much nicer except the bearing is shot. I peeled the cover off and put fresh grease inside for now. If i use common sense I think I can run these sprockets for a little while though.
