Haha, yes, that would be a remarkable invention! I'm not sure it would work. Put Justin Bieber in a ring with Mike Tyson and I'll put my money on Tyson, regardless of what the coin says.

It sounds like you kind of had no choice - you'd already been assaulted, so provoking an assault is not at issue. If someone attacks you, assume the worst intentions from them and do everything you can to stop them. If that force ends up killing or maiming, ... more »

I voted Suzuki and then looked at the thread and have to agree that TM would be the say to go. The 300 2 stroke would be sweet!

One thing that strikes me whenever I read a story about someone who successfully thwarts a robbery or assault are all the people who think that they are John Wick and would fuck up a thief or assailant. The John Wick story can't happen without a lot ... more »

Added reply in a thread Opinion: rewrite your thinking on performance parts 6/11/2019 3:46 PM

Very nice article. Yes, I buy performance parts because they're cool and I like them, and I'm still slow. I'm creeping up to 50 and am ok with being slow, but being a bit faster while being more confident and in control would be nice. Plus, there are ... more »

Borderline insanity? Might be some hyperbole there.

Started new thread 2013 traded for 2017 350 6/8/2019 3:34 PM

Just traded off my 2013 350 sxf on a 2017. What a difference! I love my 2016 250 and I wanted exactly that with more power. That’s just what I’ve got now. My son likes the 250 so I’ll keep it. This 2017 bike feels so much lighter and more nimble than

Air cooled and water cooled 125! And the 495 was available as a 420! That's pretty amazing.

Glad you're feeling better. I've had a torn intercostal before and it really sucks. The only solution is time. You were wise to let it heal completely rather than pushing it too early and reinjuring it.

Added reply in a thread Not as Good as I Thought 6/6/2019 7:28 AM

I was where you are a few years ago. In 2015 I bought a YZ250 2 stroke and happily motored onto the track after 20 years without riding a dirt bike. I remember saying to myself: "Geez, what have I gotten myself into? Maybe this was a bad idea." I found ... more »

Added reply in a thread Future Rule Change for Rejoining the Track 6/5/2019 10:49 AM

Haha, therein lies the difficulty: where do you draw the line? I honestly don’t know if it is possible to say in advance, as opposed to weighing the various factors unique to each incident on a case by case basis, just as you do above. As humans, we ... more »

Added reply in a thread Future Rule Change for Rejoining the Track 6/5/2019 10:39 AM

That's exactly what I wasn't saying. I actually said that no mistake is intentional (as indicated by my comment that "unintentional mistake" is redundant). I also drew a distinction between "intentional" and "under one's control". You can have a situation ... more »

If someone make a mistake, that does not mean it was out of their control. Going off the track due to carrying too much speed into a corner is a mistake within one's control. What this shows is that "intentional" and "within one's control" do not mean ... more »

Strangely, you don't seem to understand what you were actually doing in your post. What you have done is present an argument that states an undesirable hypothetical that would be allowed under the current rule as a reason to change the rule ("Under the ... more »

A rule change to address a "fiasco" manufactured by a few disgruntled Vital members. Great idea.

If you want a bit more power get a 150. I rode a friend's KTM 150 yesterday and it was awesome - incredibly fun bike.

Agree completely. I’ve had the Leatt 4.5 and prefer the A 10 for fit and ventilation.

The air filter is a non issue. Just oil the filter and move on. Excess packing blowing out of the muffler is also a non issue. The packing that's supposed to be in the muffler is probably still in the muffler. The launch control is the only real issue ... more »

Added reply in a thread 18 vs 19 KTM 350SXF 5/30/2019 7:37 AM

As far as whether the 18 or 19 is better, a lot just comes down to preference. I talked to a guy who traded his 17 on a 19 and he said that he like the 17 better because he finds the 19 chassis to be too stiff. Another guy who did the same thing - went ... more »

This. Trying to make a general inference about GP vs US nationals based on Covington, when all anyone can do is speculate about what's up with him, is pure silliness.
