Round 5 German GP

Round 5 of the GP series, GP of Germany was round 2 for me.

I left home on Saturday morning for the 5 hour drive to Teutschenthal. For a Dutch guy, 5 hours of driving is pretty long. Our country is small, if I drive 1½ hour to the west I’m at the beach. If I drive 45 minutes to the east, I’m in Germany. If I drive 1 hour to the south, I’m in Belgium and 2 hours to the north will take me to the north shore. So to visit friends or family, a 1 hour drive is pretty far away already.

Like I said, I’m in Germany within 45 minutes and the good thing about Germany is that there is no speed limit on the highways. So it was just me, the car (Peugeot 406), my Ipod (German radio sucks) and the highway on an early Saturday morning. It didn’t take long before I was doing 120mi/h and making up some time on the scheduled arrival time of the navigation system.

Arrived at the track just before noon, and found out there had not been any riding due to the hard wind. Some signs and banners were blown onto the track and everything needed to be secured before the riding went off. The time schedule was shortened and the rest of the day went fine.

At the track I had ran into my good friend SlaveO and his mates and we would meet later that day to check out the beertent. When we got there at night the place was already full and a good party was going on. At 2 in the morning I decided I had way too much alcohol already and headed to my car to get some sleep. My car is big enough to sleep comfortably in, and when you’re pissed it doesn’t matter too much anyway.

Woke up on Sunday morning at 7.30 and found out I had not even taken my jacket off. Stumbled out of the car and cleaned myself up to head out to the press office again and find some breakfast.

Sunday was a good day again. Great racing and made some good photo’s.

After the races, I hung out at the pressroom a bit and went home a bit over 6. I did not eat much that day but had a lot of free RedBull. Normally, I won’t touch the stuff but it kept me going all day. Must be a hangover thing.

Raced home in a bit more then 4 hours and got my Saturday photos e-mailed to GuyB before 11.

Good weekend, loads of fun, good racing. Can’t wait for the next GP, maybe France, otherwise it will be Namur but we also have a MX3 GP in Holland before that.
