I swapped a ttr125 with a kx65 carb. You will need bigger carb clamps as the OEM ones didn't work. It was also a little tighter fit. Overall it made it run way better and with a few needle adjustments (clip position). Pretty sure I had to drill out the ... more »

A worn timing chain will do that.

If it has sand in the air boot and carb, there is going to be sand in the crank area. I would advise to split the cases and clean everything out. You could also flush the crankcase with diesel or two stroke fuel if you do not want to take it apart.

Those 05-07 frames are pretty rare. I sold a 05 frame with a broken exhaust mount and no title for $200+ shipping

I have a HGS racing pipe on mine and it spread the power out more and really picked up power over a Procircuit Platinum. I recommend it the fitment was great.

Added reply in a thread Can a spark plug be bad without fouling? 3/20/2019 5:44 AM

Yes a spark plug can be bad without fouling. They are cheap and the first thing I change out when a bike isn't running properly. A leak down test will tell you if any of the seals or gaskets are leaking in the combustion side of the engine. This includes ... more »

Added reply in a thread Mistiming the crankshaft 3/20/2019 5:41 AM

If you turned it over by hand and there was no binding only your timing was off your okay. As you stated you disassembled to check for damage and if you didn't see anything reassemble with fresh head gasket and your good to go.

Exhaust bridge is fine it looks to have been relieved a little bit when it was replated which is normal it helps with cracking and catching of the piston. Use a little scotch-brite green and wd40 to knock off the glaze on the inside of the cylinder. ... more »

That bike has a stroked crank or long rod. It has a spacer under the cylinder

Added reply in a thread 05 CRF250R issues 3/8/2019 10:51 AM

That sounds like your issue. Spring, washer, then o-ring. Set the screw at 1.75 turns out for a baseline.

Added reply in a thread 05 CRF250R issues 3/8/2019 6:00 AM

The rubber boot that attaches the carb and the head could be cracked. Sounds like its running very lean. Did you set the fuel screw on the bottom of the carb? It has a little washer/o-ring on the tip of it and if its not in place it will run lean.

Added reply in a thread CR125 chipped cylinder 2/27/2019 12:36 PM

Yes new cylinder. A nikasil cylinder is superior to a sleeved cylinder. There is a reason manufactures went away with lined cylinders. If the engine is properly rebuilt and maintained a nikasil cylinder will last longer on the bore and have better heat ... more »

Added reply in a thread CR125 chipped cylinder 2/27/2019 11:23 AM

Looks like the sleeve is off center/rotated. That cylinder is trash and if they ground on the power valve those too. Look for a non-sleeved used cylinder or new OEM.

Not possible. Using the 04 cases you can convert to a 03 top end but you will need a lot of supporting pieces. I would stick with the 04 cylinder setup.
