Pretty sure it's just a mounting point to thread in a bolt for a cranckase splitting tool. It's not actually used otherwise.

Reply to Michelin Starcross 5 Soft Tire Pressure Recommendations 5/23/2020 5:48 AM

What really matters is that you find the sweet spot on any particular gauge and then stick with that gauge for consistency. My buddy was using his WP digital fork gauge with his KTM and kept saying front feels like shit. I asked how much pressure he

Reply to Enclosed trailer, what brands and size to get? 5/19/2020 10:20 PM

Ahhh, my bad. Sorry jmo. However, I still wouldn't try to pull a decently loaded 7x14 with a minivan, LOL. I'm one of the people that likes the truck to be oversized if anything. Don't want to be blowing transmissions up in minivans. My wife has a Toyota ... more »

Reply to Enclosed trailer, what brands and size to get? 5/19/2020 5:36 PM

I have a 7x14 V-nose. That is perfect for me. I have the 6ft height for less wind resistance. I don't put anything tall like a SXS in there so that's what is best for me. As you look around, you'll realize that all the trailer manufacturers source a ... more »

The nice thing about air is it's still free. Try both higher and lower and see what you think. I suspect you'd probably like more air and less compression damping since your main complaint is mid-stroke harshness. Adding more damping generally increases ... more »

Definitely replace item #7 with the newer solid wheel version as Matt Fisher said above. I believe 2016 is when it changed.

Reply to Yz125 power valve issues?? 5/18/2020 11:46 AM

You can't just cut it 30 thousandths and then slap the piston in. You have to measure the piston, add on the clearance you want, and then bore it specifically to that size. This is especially important with Wiseco or any forged pistons as they expand ... more »

Reply to Yz125 power valve issues?? 5/18/2020 7:25 AM

You bored a Nikasil coated cylinder? They are not bore-able. Or does this bike already have a cast iron sleeve installed? Also, when boring larger, the power valve has to be trimmed back to match the larger bore to prevent contact with the piston and ... more »

Reply to So, the Altitude at SLC.........Advantage Tomac? 5/17/2020 8:00 PM

This exactly. On top of these less than ideal factors, just being totally out of their usual routine. Not going home between races. Not having your home gym, practice track, training facility, training guy, sleeping in your own bed, all of it. The guys ... more »

Reply to So, the Altitude at SLC.........Advantage Tomac? 5/17/2020 11:37 AM

The altitude is not the only factor. The low humidity compounds the altitude. I live around 5,000ft and train 4500-7000 daily. Very similar to SLC. When people come here to visit from low, humid places they feel it. You can "gut it out" for a few days ... more »

Reply to Yz 125 odd noise 5/17/2020 9:26 AM

Possibly something in the power valves or the power valve actuation mechanism. It might be all carboned up and the fall jarred it and got it stuck in a certain position. The PV might be stuck part way open and the piston ring might be contacting it or ... more »

4,000ft is more than enough to give lowlanders issues, especially during high exertion events. Granted, very fit athletes are better off, but still...

Reply to WAY too stiff KYB sss forks - Drain oil inner/outer chamber? 5/14/2020 1:59 PM

In addition to what slipdog said above, I'd say your main problem is you don't have the inner chambers bled correctly. The first thing is stop thinking of an "amount" that goes in the inner chamber. The amount is irrelevant. What matters is that they ... more »

Reply to 99+ YZ250 cylinder on 1998 YZ250? 5/11/2020 6:24 PM

The 99 engine was a complete new model change. Pretty sure there is no hope of bolting a 99+ cylinder to a 98 and older bottom end. Wasn't the bore & stroke even different?

Left Thurmont about 2003'ish. Used to ride Happy Ramblers and Antietam all the time, and some other little private tracks around the area.
