Overlooking a few isolated incidents of drunk idiots at races, MX has, by and large, managed to avoid devolving into the senseless, identity focused nonsense going on in larger society. People come to races to escape that shit. MX'ers are good people. ... more »

Added reply in a thread 4.8 Rear Spring for 155lbs rider too much??? 4/28/2021 3:24 PM

OK, to be clear, we are talking spring rates in N/mm here like KTM and WP use in the manual and on their markings? Do not confuse 48N/mm with 4.8Kg/mm. If we are talking 48N/mm that is almost guaranteed to be way too stiff for a 150lb rider. For reference, ... more »

Yes, you can notice improved cornering on the lowered bikes. They corner very well. Also, I really like the suspension on my 2021 TC125. I would say it is damn near as good as the "magical" KYB SSS stuff on the YZ125 I had before. As I understand it, ... more »

21's have a Magura clutch and the brakes are Brembo calipers with Magura master cylinders. I personally don't see much benefit to the 2022 switch to all Brembo as the 2021 stuff works just fine.

I have a 2020 FC350 and a 2021 TC125. The Husky's are different than the KTM's. The carbon subframe and bodywork make the Husky feel a little smaller and then the shorter suspension on the 2021-2022 makes them even smaller yet. If you ride a KTM back ... more »

Added reply in a thread Front Tyres/tires for hardpack 4/27/2021 7:07 AM

The MX53 front has quite wide knob spacing and tall skinny knobs for a hard pack tire. So it doesn't pack too badly and crosses over to soft conditions pretty well. On the flip side, the MX33 has pretty wide knobs and does a good job crossing over to ... more »

Any bike, any displacement. Must be stock (limited mod rules defined to allow some tweaking, but eliminate the massive advantage of factory suspension). At each round, the "Fast 80" is defined in combined, all rider qualifying. 1-40 go to the "premier" ... more »

Are you tightening the big 22mm axle nut first before any of the 10mm pinch bolts? You need to do that to side load the bearings and spacers to hold it in position.

Power should all be same. Husky 2021 has the 10mm shorter suspension which is nice for shorter riders. The bike is noticeably smaller.

I'm running Avgas in all my 2-strokes. It's really hard to justify $10 - $35/gal for race gas when AvGas is $4.90.

I've had both the bike shoes and the Lock-N-Load Pros. Would definitely rate the lock n loads higher. Bike shoes are annoying as they are bolted permanently in place and are super easy to bang your shins on and quite painful. Since they hold the bike ... more »

I don't recall any specific magic for the 1981 YZ125, but that sounds like a simple case of a pilot jet that's too rich. Parts diagram says that stock pilot is a #80. I would try a 75 and then a 70 to see what that gives you.
