This. Kawi 250F's did it for years whenever there'd be a fast guy on them wringing its neck and in recent years it's been the YZ250F's. To me it sounds like the exhaust outlet is underwater, like an outboard engine..LOL

Oh so now we're getting pronunciation lessons from the guys who say it "Husk-Varner" and talk about racing their Honder at Unadiller and Daytoner.....

Added reply in a thread myKTM App And Connectivity Unit --- Is this feature backward compatible? 8/2/2021 4:10 PM

I believe the limiting factor is you need the newer ECU to be compatible with the connectivity unit. So, perhaps by purchasing both you could adapt it to an older bike. May also need some wiring harness parts as well, I'd figure.

I don't know specifically, but very likely might be the diameter of the nipple holes. Call one of the wheel builder places. They usually know this kind of info off the top of their head.

Added reply in a thread Weird engine noise 2019 sx250 8/1/2021 7:01 AM

I don't have the 250 manual, but 0.75mm is the upper limit of the spec (0.45 - 0.75mm) for the 125/150. I'd assume the 250/300 is same or close. Is there any up/down play perceptible in the rod bearing? Do the rod and crank spin free, smooth, and tight ... more »

What is the service spec for the rod axial play that you are measuring? That noise sounds like a bad rod bearing or main bearing to me. Has the bottom end ever been apart? How many hours on it?

Oh boyy... I'm not talking about after the race. Moving over is one thing, but when you come across the entire pack you better have the line. Coming across someone's front wheel as they are still in the air or downsiding a jump is full dikkish. Swooping ... more »

Better video. They don't use droppers. The seat is just slammed way down all the time because they are manually everything with tons of body english. They never sit down on the seat. They wear visors because of sun and also because no visor looks dorky.

Timing off, piston hitting valves. Double check timing marks on crank and cams.

I'm one of the guys that doesn't really have a problem with the stock AER's, especially the 2020 and 2021 and newer. To me they are really good. I kinda like that the bikes are delivered with cheaper, lighter, easily adjustable air forks but the option ... more »

In 2021 they went to bigger rotors and calipers on the 85SX. Probably easier to just get the 2021 parts to upgrade.

Mix a small batch, 1 gallon, and try it. Make sure you drain the old fuel completely so that you are getting a true indication of any difference. The jetting difference between 93 pump and the 100LL/90E-free mix will be minimal, if any. Maybe 1 or 2 ... more »

Added reply in a thread YZ250 Muffler Chop Question 7/19/2021 1:30 PM

100LL does not contain oxygen additives. It is a great 2-stroke fuel. I would mix 100LL 50/50 with 90 E-free all day long. That will get you right at 95 which is what the Yamaha manual calls for, I believe. Running this mix will not alter your jetting ... more »
