Obviously, set up and admin fee seem as you describe, but freight is actually discounted a bit ($430 is invoiced freight), and the tire disposal fee is required to be invoiced by the dealer under Florida law: (https://floridarevenue.com/taxes/taxesfees/Pages/solid_waste.aspx) ... more »

Yeah, and based on history, I certainly wouldn't champion Star or Yamaha as infallible. That said, Vohland's two engine grenades on the same bike with less than 20 min of seat time was definitely a bigger embarrassment than some of the other teams' bad ... more »

It's almost as if keeping a race bike going week in and out without any failures at the top level under rough conditions is a heavy lift across pretty much every team and make: Honda: Sexton mechanical DNF at LL2 last year Husqvarna: Hampshire DNF while ... more »

Consistent, smooth, in-control, workmanlike, and podium speed on top of it all... And he's still getting faster. Seems like the makings of a very long career in a tough sport.

The Japanese mfgs switched to wet with fuel specs a decade or so ago. Per Yamaha: "Wet weight includes the vehicle with all standard equipment and all fluids, including oil, coolant (as applicable) and a full tank of fuel. It does not include the weight ... more »

Added reply in a thread How cool would it be if Star Yamaha did this 7/9/2021 9:31 AM

Correct. And he has only scored points in three motos (two of them being his nice day in the mudder at LL last year) in the three years on a 4T. He is kinda a mid 20s position guy, and I would guess the 125 handicap for him was probably about 5 spots. ... more »

The 250 already has the Keihin carb.

Added reply in a thread All new YZ125!! 7/9/2021 8:46 AM

Yes. It is the same Keihin carb that has been on the 250 for years. Hitachi/Honda just spun off and merged their parts suppliers into it's own entity.

Well, not any Star rider that they would actually put on this type of assignment.

Added reply in a thread How cool would it be if Star Yamaha did this 7/9/2021 8:25 AM

I would think a Star rider could run well into the top 20 in this depleted 250 field, considering Steinke had an average finish of 29th in his last full season on a 125

Comparing dry vs wet weight. 1.9 gal of fuel in the KTM weighs about 12 lbs.

The other two historic racing colors for Yamaha (red or yellow) were already associated with Japanese brands?

Which is still impressive, because it is nearly a thousand dollars less than the 250, and has the same basic suspension and bolt-on package.

The fact that that something exists for "teenagers coming off 80s" should be reason enough to be really excited, but on top of that... 125s are a fucking blast to ride.
