Who was your Dad, Bob or Craig? I can never drive down I-10 without looking down Hwy 87 thinking about that track. In the REAL old days you could even see it through the trees from the interstate.

Since 1972, with some short closures here and there for neglect and ownership changes.

Probably spun more laps at the scene of my first race in 1971 than any track since. 331 Raceway in Opp, AL. Bi-weekly races year round from July 1971 thru 1975 riding multiple classes on race day. That's me in the Captain America helmet back in 1971

That was originally called "The Pit" in the mid-70's and then later West Florida MX. Raced there many a time until the early 80's.

I was there in 84 as well and stood at that same jump watching David do that. There were times that he also did a front brake tap which was even more amazing. If I remember correctly, Mark Crozier had an excursion into the trees after that jump that ... more »
