A lot of people are having great success with this. https://www.dirtlegal.com/ I have a new, fully plated CRF450RX in my shop at the moment.

Yes. Not saying it's your problem, but start with the easy stuff first. Only takes a few minutes to pop the cover off and look. Just lay the bike on it's side.

Yes, it's a scraper ring. It's only used on the special KYB seals that have the groove for it. This was a new seal design that KYB started using with the PSF-2. Text me at 408-406-2089 if you need any help.

Just a heads up....KYB now has a three piece design that uses a plastic-ring scraper that sits between the seal and wiper.

Added reply in a thread Fork Seal Replacement - Outer Chamber Only? 1/24/2019 8:49 AM

Ah...great point. The inner chamber is where all the "work" is done, or the conversion from kinetic energy to heat, so it does experience a break down...all depending on how hard and often you ride the bike. So...with low hours and a need to just fix ... more »

Technically you don't have to put new oil in either one. And you don't have to dump any oil out if you're just replacing the seal. There are ways. Now...that said, maybe you're thinking about servicing the fork at the same time you have them apart. In ... more »

As long as everything is smooth and polished, chrome or not, you'll be fine.

Great advice. So...do you ride the NorCal tracks? How are things looking up there? Used to get to E-Street and MMX all the time but haven't been in ages.

Okay...so the noise in that video, (I assume that is yours) is ONLY because of one of two things. 1. Someone removed the top out spring from the seal head. 2. The free piston was never properly set and is topping out at full extension, (assuming you ... more »

I just can't see any coil compression spring breaking in a design as such. Doesn't add up. Coil compression springs can break, but...it's very very rare. They are simple and super tough. You can get millions of cycles out of them. And the noise in the ... more »

Thanks to Slavens for the image. That large but short spring on top of the seal head is the top out spring. This wants to compress the shock when it's at full extension and with shock that have softer springs or little pre-load, it can produce ... more »

So...I'm not sure what "internal springs" some of the users here are talking about. There are some coil-compression springs in this shock, but nearly all shocks use them. And compression springs don't normally break. But...perhaps there is something ... more »

The future of air forks is still a bit up in the air. As you know, some manufactures have dropped them and returned to more conventional designs. That said, I'm a fan of air forks for MX applications. They take more time to maintain and have a higher ... more »
