Added reply in a thread MX and SX coverage next year? 6/12/2021 6:32 AM

NBC Sports is going away, we've known this for some time now. The network has other channels to place SX/MX, as well as the peacock streaming service. Everything is being worked out for 2022 and beyond. DC Racer X

Added reply in a thread Drone footage of Nationals?!? 6/9/2021 5:56 AM

Two drones were allowed to go up at Thunder Valley, one by Tommy Tenders of Team Fried who is helping out with the TV coverage and the other by Stephan LeGrand (LeBig) who was doing still photos at race time of the whole facility for future parking and ... more »

It was a combination of things with a pleasant result. We will keep working on finding the right balance. Having an extra half-hour between motos (because the second ones were on tape-delay) helped the morning planning and gave us time to make sure it ... more »

Right on, and if Washougal is anything like Colorado was last weekend, get there early! It's going to be epic all summer long, and thank God we're all allowed back out to the races... On the RV thing though, we all saw it coming, but he did play making ... more »

Not quite... We knew something was up because he wasn't testing his outdoor bike, and we actually wrote before he clinched the '14 SX title something to the effect of 'Don't be surprised if Ryan decides to get that long-overdue knee surgery..." And then ... more »

Added reply in a thread How/Why does the broadcast miss all of these crashes? 6/7/2021 11:05 AM

Off base. They would have showed both J-Mart's crash and RJ's crash if they would have it, but both were back in the pack in the early going and the cameras missed it. Sometimes it's just really bad luck that they miss these things... DC Racer X

Added reply in a thread Jeremy Martin? 6/6/2021 9:14 AM

They definitely missed a few things, in large part because there was A LOT happening out there. I happened to be standing right where J-Mart crashed. He had gone down on lap one and was slicing up through the field, maybe just cracked top ten, and when ... more »

Missed you in that sea of humanity, Manny. Really glad to have this series up and running, and so, so many good riders out there right now! Should be a great summer. DC Racer X

Added reply in a thread Here is my look back at the controversial Cannondale Motocross project 5/20/2021 11:22 AM

Hi Bearuno, it's a complicated alphabet soup sometimes--the AMA, AMA Pro Racing, DMG, the FIM, FELD, MX Sports... Nobody that I know wants to keep smaller manufacturers out, but the AMA (which ran things completely when Cannondale was trying to get into ... more »

Added reply in a thread Ahem. About that Southwick date change... 5/20/2021 8:36 AM

Southwick was going to be moved to August 7, but now it's going to be run earlier. DC Racer X

Added reply in a thread Good information from Cooksey MX Sports 5/18/2021 8:25 AM

I believe the negotiations between the series and the tracks should be kept between them, just as a rider's contract with a factory is--it's their private business, and they can reveal their own going price if they choose to. I think the fact that almost ... more »

Added reply in a thread Good information from Cooksey MX Sports 5/18/2021 7:33 AM

Every televised motorsports series manages their broadcast content, and we usually grant permission to riders at both the privateer and factory levels to use footage from Lucas Oil Pro Motocross, we just need to get permission from NBC (who actually ... more »

Added reply in a thread Southwick adjustment? 5/14/2021 9:06 AM

WW Ranch's Junior and his family decided to pass on having their outdoor national in 2021. We hope they will be back in the future. They are great to work with and I really like the track and the facility, even though it can get pretty toasty down there ... more »

Sorry Jeff, I did mean that weekend that Loretta's ends, but with the news of today, as I mentioned above, maybe they won't have to change their date after all... DC Racer X

Added reply in a thread Southwick adjustment? 5/13/2021 1:22 PM

This was great and unexpected news, hopefully it means that Southwick won't have to change their date. stay tuned... DC Racer X

Added reply in a thread Southwick adjustment? 5/13/2021 6:38 AM

We are still limited in how many people we can have in the pits, especially the early rounds, and of course by the hours in the day, so I don't think there will be many extracurricular activities on the race days. DC Racer X

Added reply in a thread Southwick adjustment? 5/13/2021 6:36 AM

Sorry, I thought you were complaining about them being so close together on both the schedule and in distance. Nothing I can do about the long drive from Washougal, other than give everyone two weeks to get there... DC Racer X

Added reply in a thread Southwick adjustment? 5/13/2021 3:53 AM

It's unfortunate, but it's also the only open date after the August 1 easing of outdoor mask mandates and expanded crowd limits, unless you prefer we run into late September and up against the Motocross of Nations is scheduled to take place in Italy. ... more »

Added reply in a thread Seriously DC? Why? 5/12/2021 1:31 PM

The AMA actually acted on this last year, after the FIM did. And remember, GoPro does not make helmets; helmet companies don't make POV cameras or mounts. It's up to the helmet companies to test their helmets "as is" and it doesn't make sense for them ... more »

I am a Vital MXer myself, from day one, and I enjoy the banter as well as the benefits of hearing different opinions and takes. And yes, I do know how busy it can be on race-day, and when you have 900 riders on the starting line like a Sunday morning ... more »
