Thanks. I got lucky finding the pipe. A guy guy in Louisiana had some old inventory from when he owned a Kawasaki dealership.

Good looking build. I did an RC themed build last year. The '99 was the last 2 stroke I raced and my favorite.

Added reply in a thread Dynojet Power Commander and Autotune 2/5/2019 5:03 PM

The Autotune doesn't need to be enabled (or installed) at all times. It trims the base map and creates a trim table. You can then apply the table to the base map and load that corrected map to the Power Commander as the new base map. Each time you run ... more »

Started out getting the bike for free and ended up with over $10K in parts and about 250-300 hrs in labor over 4 months. It turned out too nice to ride so I had to get a 250SX. Some things don’t turn out as planned...

Maybe a bit overkill, but we use a Raceair for Stock Moto Honda shifter kart. Stock Moto uses a Keihin PWK 38. The Raceair has jetting for Keihin, Mikuni, and Dellorto. https://computech.com/product/raceair-pro-weather-station/

No, bigger master harder pull.

The on/off feel was especially apparent on my RMZ when I went to an oversize rotor. The power was now there, but it lacked modulation. And that brake always had a hard (not mushy) lever. When I replaced the caliper with a Ride Engineering caliper with ... more »

For me the negative is increased lever effort. I like the feel at the lever of the Brembos and think that the light lever effort is easier to modulate, especially if I have a little arm pump. Actually, you have to consider the entire system starting ... more »

Don't trust eBay listings for fitment. There were different bore sizes though out those years. The '06-'08 were 10mm, the '09-'13 were 9mm, and the '14-'19 are 10mm. You have to go back to 2004 for an 11mm. I'm not sure about lever ratios... I think ... more »

The '18 250 SX has a 10 mm. They went from a 9 mm to 10 mm on the SXF in 2014.

Added reply in a thread 4CS - Technical Touch vs KYB SSS 12/9/2018 2:29 PM

Is there a benefit to the KYB lowers vs. the WP lowers? I just used the AER lugs on 4CS tubes and re-threaded the rebound adjusters on the lathe.

Added reply in a thread 4CS - Technical Touch vs KYB SSS 12/7/2018 6:29 PM

The KYB cartridges are rebuildable. You are not out the upgrade when you sell the bike. I put the stock internals back in when I sold my bikes. The same KYB cartridges are now in the 3rd bike... best mod I've ever done.

Added a comment to Cadpro18's bike check 12/2/2018 5:44 PM

The stock forks have 35 mm axle offset. The stock triples are 22 mm offset. Since the new KYB forks have 32 mm axle offset, I used a 2007 KX450 triple clamp (24.5 mm offset) for a total offset of 56.5 mm. vs. 57 mm stock. For the wheel I had a YZF hub made in green and used a YZF axle and spacers. I welded new steering stops on the frame and used the '99 steering stem.
Thanks!

Aircraft stripper (methylene chloride), get it before the EPA bans it.

I use helicopter tape also. There are at least 2 different thicknesses- 8 mil and 14 mil. It’s worked well for me on bikes, road cars, and sprint cars.
