Ohio and Western PA aren't bad, as long as you can deal with the winter and all the rain in the spring and early summer. A Playstation and exercise bike may be the best way to cope with the crappy and depressing weather.

You'd be in one of the highest Federal income tax brackets at 85K gross. In the USA, housing varies greatly depending on location. Taxes vary depending on the state and local. Some areas have hideous school taxes. 85K will get you a closet in Manhattan ... more »

50K a year gross is hardly 50K a year net. Deduct all the income, sales, and property taxes, and that 50 becomes 30 or 25 in a hurry. Reduce the size of the welfare state, lower taxes, and allow people to keep more of what they earn. They can use that ... more »

Go back to natural terrain motocross tracks. I'd rather have a bumpy track with no jumps to keep the speeds and risk of injury moderate. The Practice Facility at Club MX or Loretta's are great examples of challenging tracks that do not have such dangerous ... more »

Keep in mind that professional sports matter very little in the grand scheme of things. One could argue they exist as entertainment and a distraction to the peasant class to take their cognitive focus away from the fact that they work to benefit and ... more »

Peak American motocross has come and gone. The superstar racers (RC, JS7, RV) have retired. Local racing is going away. Bikes sales are still down from the peak. Young people want to stay inside and play on devices. We focus on Supercross and supercross-like ... more »

Perhaps our season is too long and our guys are suffering from burnout and fatigue. If one looks at the effort and total number of hours, our guys are likely badly burned out by the end of the season. Add in the prep and MXON race, and it may be too ... more »

You hit the nail on the head regarding the benefits of mountain biking compared to moto regarding economic utility and cost/benefit analysis. One thing I noticed as well among the MTB crowd is that it isn't a big dick-stretching contest like a motocross ... more »

Kona Process 134 is a great all around machine for around 3K. I ride mine around Pittsburgh which would be similar to the Carolinas.

Yes, I train on mountain bikes. Sadly, I'm trying to pay down some debt, so that is the only thing I'm doing on two wheels for the time being. My paid off 16 YZ250 just sits. I met Johnny at The Ranch back in 2013. He was very talkative and I was quite ... more »

Added reply in a thread Why did you stop wearing a neckbrace? 9/26/2018 12:43 PM

I find it easier to ride correctly without the brace on. There is a correct way to ride a dirt bike. I find it easier to get closer to correct without the Leatt. Getting hurt is a risk I'm willing to take. There is risk in everything.

The real question to ask is what you need to make regarding net income. Gross income is an illusion, as a healthy chunk of the pie goes to income taxes. That said, if one lives in a studio apartment and has a paid off vehicle, they can get away with ... more »

I moved back home to PA. From PA, Club MX is about 9 hours or so. I had three tracks within 30 minutes of my place in Phoenix. I miss those days, but not the rat race in the Southwest.

I live near South Park BMX if you have heard of that place. I think the demographics in Charlotte compared to Pittsburgh are better for BMX. We are an aging community. If I lived that close to Club MX I'd moto down a lot more!

Added reply in a thread Should I get a 250 2 stroke 9/3/2018 5:40 PM

I think that is why most avoid the two-stroke. They require throttle control, using the clutch, shifting, and such. I'd rather work a little harder with my brain and save money! Putting everyone on easier to ride bikes increases speeds and results in ... more »
