Thanks. I'd have to sell my YZ250 before considering an e-bike. We will see what happens.

Is this John Ayers shop or a different one? It must be in the Pittsburgh area with the 724 area code.

If a quality enduro mountain bike is in the 3-4K range, adding an e-motor and battery will add another 1-4K or so. My Kona Process 134 was about 3K. I think it was well worth the money, and probably have hundreds of hours on it from 2015 to 2018. I don't ... more »

Do you have the contact info for John? I believe the Fantic website only lists the address of his shop. I'd have to sell my YZ250 to get one, but may be willing to do that. -Thanks

Thanks for the info. Do you have any info on the dealer in Grove City, PA? Is that John Ayers? Do you know anywhere on the east coast where I can demo a bike? -Thanks

I put my 2016 up for sale. $4,000. Pittsburgh, PA Never raced, original vet owner, and title in hand. The bike was purchased new from Lojak's Yamaha. It has been ridden mostly at Switchback, Beans MX, and Club MX. The original piston and rings ... more »

My history teacher in 1999: "These are the good old days. No war and the economy is good." He was right! The only problem we had in the 90s was a BJ in the White House.

"Riding a motorcycle isn't any less fun that it was 30 years ago." It was more affordable 30 years ago, and wages provided much more bang for the buck. It isn't a passion problem. It's a financial and economic problem.

You hit the nail on the head. It is an economic problem, both macro and micro. Many more would participate if financially within reach. I jumped off the corporate hamster wheel and am doing a blue-collar and enjoyable gig. My YZ sits. My Kona MTB is ... more »

Cut the cord on the WIFI and cable at home. Let the kids pay for the devices and the monthly bill if they so choose. That would put an end to all of that pretty quick. If something is free, people (even kids) will consume too much of it.

The future may be e-mountain bikes on BMX-style tracks in the city and suburbs. Places like Ray's MTB Park may be the new moto. Local moto is dying, and may be about gone when the Boomers are too old to ride and Gen. Y is booted from the nest and can ... more »

If it is an uphill battle getting females to participate, why put in the effort if the return on investment will be low? Maybe we should try to win back the males that have left motocross for various reasons? An emphasis on 125 races could be the ticket, ... more »

Back in my day (late 80s and 90s), we wore the tires out on big wheels. Those were those plastic trikes with the big wheel in front with pedals attached. After that we got Mongoose and later GT and Dyno BMX bikes. And we would spend all day every day ... more »

Shouldn't we encourage female racers to race male racers of similar skill? Does segregation help anyone improve? It may not send the right message to females that they should be segregated and not compete with men. With marriage rates going off a cliff, ... more »

Have any moto guys tried an e-bike? Is it a good way to get a 2-wheel fix without driving out of NIMBYland to get to the local practice spot? We have some great trails and downhills here in Western PA. A little help with an e-bike could be a better way ... more »

Is local moto dead? We had a booming scene here in District 5 back in the late 90s and early 2000s. We had to qualify for 125C back then. Any chance of getting local moto back to where it was? Or have demographics and economics changed, leaving many ... more »

Club MX is a great place to go. It will beat the crap out of you with how rough and sandy it is, but is a great place to ride. There is fishing and mountain bike trails as well. I like it, as it is about an 8 hour drive and only about $30 a day to moto ... more »
