Added reply in a thread One of the last nice days in these parts... 11/24/2018 10:06 AM

I count my blessings. We had three nice days this week and I was able to do some yard work for a neighbor after work, removing leaves and a mow. We have an indoor bicycle park and an indoor MX track here in Pittsburgh. There is a better indoor bike in ... more »

Thanks for posting. I find removing the spacer preferable with the stock exhaust and RAD Valve. With the spacer I find the power to be too jumpy at low RMPs, which I find uncomfortable and unpleasant. Perhaps with the FMF system (which I heard has less ... more »

We should encourage people to reproduce and consume responsibly. That is the best way to take care of our environment. Reducing the size of the welfare state would help as well. Enabling people to breed irresponsibly leads to many problems.

"If pussy is a stock, its value is plummeting." -Dave Chappelle It appears the same is true for used RMZs.

If you can spend the money try a Rad Valve with a Power Wing and leave the reed spacer on the intake. When I put mine on I was amazed at the grunt. I removed the torque spacer because I didn't like so much bottom. If I still lived at the apartments off ... more »

Vuillemen mentioned on a PulpMX Classic Commentary that he liked the FMF pipe best, as there was a very good throttle to wheel connection. 50% throttle resulted in 50% of the power. He also said the bike would do something even at low throttle settings, ... more »

Doesn't Canada have more natural resources, less people mooching off the taxpayers, and less debt? Why envy us?

One might also mention that there is some economic anarchy in play with dealers offering new RMZ450s at such low pricing. This is great for people on a tight budget who want a new 450, but bad for resale on used ones. I've sworn off four-strokes, but ... more »

Kudos for adopting! It just hurts that it is a 7 year old bike and a Suzuki. It looks like a great value at $3500, but may sell for $2500 to $3000. I sold a 2011 YZ450F for $2,500 in Phoenix. It had a C4MX rebuild (high compression pistion/port and polish/new ... more »

Look for original graphics and grips. And if the owner has a few clean spare air-filters, this is a good sign. Is the owner knowledgeable about the sport and bike maintenance? Or do they just gas it up and go? Also, it may be better to finance a leftover ... more »

A 450 may be a better bet. They are typically owned by older riders and not revved to the moon like a 250f. The engine parts will last longer as well. Get the suspension set up and they are typically good to go. That said, it is hard to beat a 250 2-stroke ... more »

If one removes the reed spacer and adds a Rad Valve/Power Wing, I do not see this lowering the horsepower on the dyno. If it does, I'd rather have a more usable powerband and lose 1HP. Usable and easier to ride makes a bike more pleasurable to ride to ... more »

Experiment with removing the reed block spacer for more top-end. I like the stock exhaust, no reed block spacer, Rad Valve, Power Wing, and 9oz. FWW. And I keep the stock gearing. This gives the bike some bottom, lots of mid, and some top for a functional ... more »

150 Hours? 300 30 minute motos? That sounds like a lot of run time before touching anything on an RMZ450. I got roughly 100 hours on an 06 CRF450 and a 11 YZF450 before a rebuild, and I thought that was pushing it. If they last that long, great! But ... more »

The pricing mentioned above is dirt cheap, but a 250 2-stroke may cost less in the long run with inexpensive parts and do it yourself rebuilds. The YZ250 may be a polar opposite of a 2012-2015 KX450. I have ridden my YZ and a 2012 KX450 back to back. ... more »
