I have a question for ping. Will there be a written version of Ask Ping?
Posted this in another thread, but probably worth posting here too. This project was well underway when I left Triumph nearly 2 years ago, and even then I saw some sketches that looked promising. I obviously don't know what they've been up to since, ... more »

I miss the text version of Ask Ping
I've been keeping track of actual passes made this year, as opposed to the difference between lap 1 position and finish position (like Chargers vs Anchors/Movers and Shakers). Unfortunately I only started doing it this year, and it's a lot of work so ... more »
It'll be Thai built. They've changed their plan a bit and have moved nearly all production to Thailand, and it seems like eventually no assembly will be done in the UK. They're planning on moving all the UK assembly line machinery to Thailand if I recall
Daytona is always refreshing - something new in the middle of the season. There are a few interesting quirks in the numbers too, due to the long lap times. In the 250s it was the second lowest passing race of the East region so far (only Arlington main

That's an interesting thing to look at for sure! Although I guess like Skuzzy pointed out, it'd be easy to miss things unless you take in the whole picture. The few things I don't like about the pass count stats only arise when you start trying to attribute ... more »
Atlanta has come and gone, and with it - more pass counts! The 250 East class is still a lot less active than their west coast competitors. This week the race featured 4.05 passes per lap, notably lower than the west coast average of 4.73 and only the

"Apparently, Chase Sexton likes to slap his helmet repeatedly"........gold right there!
Thanks for the pictures, that roost one was perfect timing!.
The triple crown format brings more racing, more passing, and therefore a lot more data to sort through. This weekend saw the highest amount of passing this year in the 450 class with 199 total passes (the previous high was 143 in Glendale). Normalised

As promised, the total passes conceded for the season so far are below. These stats are inherently flawed, as they favour riders who have missed mains. Don't look at it as a leader board, but as a list of passes conceded (organised in ascending order.)
Gimme another few days and I'll run up the totals for passes conceded. That's a different list, and somehow I don't thing reed and Roczen will be tied...
Apologies to the 6 people who are following this stuff - I was busy riding mountain bikes over the past 2 weeks, so am only getting round to posting now. San Diego wasn't a big numbers night for passing, with both classes recording quite low pass counts.

Nice to see Josh Hansen is still superstitious and drops his freshly painted helmets
Some good racing from Oakland I think. Certainly in the 450 main, at least. Interestingly, the 450 passes were a little low compared to previous weeks - a reminder that good racing can't be measured solely by passes. 250s:

Glendale brought our first triple crown of the year, and with it came a lot more passing. Three starts gives a lot more opportunity to get caught up with other riders in traffic, and lose plenty of positions in the process. With the way races settle

I'm not sure that I agree that more mistakes makes for better racing. I'd much rather have seen Bagget dice it up a bit with Roczen and Tomac to end up with a pass count of 2 or 3, instead of making a mistake and ending up passing 7 guys in the back ... more »
What a night of racing at Angel Stadium! Yesterday's track was very challenging, giving races heavily influenced by mistakes, especially in the 250 class. This was reflected in the pass counts with season high numbers everywhere. 250s:
