I haven’t checked it yet.

While there are some knowledgeable people in here, could you quickly explain what detonation is? From my understanding it’s where the engine fires before reaching TDC. Like I said, it’s just what has been told to me and I have tried to look it up but ... more »

Bobby at Barr’s Competition got me fixed up. I’ll give you updates on how it runs with pump gas for anybody who is following this

In regard to the engine life comment I’ve always been told a higher compression means a shorter life span. I had a bone stock yz250 that I felt fine putting 60-70 hours on but this bike makes me nervous around 40-50 hours. And I could be totally wrong ... more »

2013 with FMF setup, v force reeds, and the motor work that was stated above. Compression raised and ported. I didn’t do the motor work. I would have chosen not to because of the race gas issue and the engine life. I think the porting does make it run ... more »

Thank you for the detailed write up. I meant to do a compression test but I had taken the pipe off and was to lazy to put it back on tbh. I’m taking it today and hopefully they can fix it because I don’t feel like waiting on a new head to come in.

180 main, 48 pilot, 3rd clip position. I’ve thought about going to 2nd clip position. 100LL aviation fuel, yamalube 32/1. And I will be having my squish set for pump gas. I’m taking my head tomorrow.

Pulled my head off because the owner before raised the compression which has cause me to buy a lot of race gas and I’m tired of buying it and so I am planning to get my squish set for pump gas. There are some pitting marks alongside the intake side of

Added reply in a thread Yz250 linkage slop 11/21/2020 12:23 PM

This is more than 1-2 mm. Every bearing in the bike has 31.5 hours on it. Except the linkage. I replaced them again and they probably have 15ish hours now. I am going to buy a new linkage knuckle and put new bearings in thag and see if that helps I guess. ... more »

So I know there are 20 threads on this but I can’t find any that show a fix for this. Linkage slop where the knuckle bolts to the swingarm. There’s a lot of slop right now. I can put brand new bearings in linkage and upper shock and it will get a little ... more »

Have a 2013 yz250. When warming the bike up it will start idling back down and sometimes it will do a “bing” sound and continue to idle down. I know that is a terrible explanation but it’s hard to describe. It doesn’t sound bad but it just doesn’t sound ... more »

A kid I know has a 2003 yz125 and the clutch has no tension to it. I can take the clutch arm (disconnected from the cable) and turn it with one finger. He said he put new clutch plates in and new springs. The kit is for a newer modeled yz125. It feels ... more »

Yamaha has a completely stupid way of making their transmission. Maybe something got in the way of the shift fork when it was going from one case to the other? Like some trash or metal debris. Idk. Going to put new oil in and possibly buy different plates. ... more »

I was racing today (woods racing) and in a field section I went to shift up and hit a false neutral. I shifted down and it was kind of hard to shift down. Well I was nervous about it so I left it in 3rd for as long as I could until I had to switch again. ... more »
