Reply to Are moto sales booming? 7/4/2020 10:47 PM

Put off buying a new YZ125 earlier in the pandemic, went to Utah for a month, and came back to see that none are in my area now. Found a YZ250 online Thursday at Niehaus Cycles in Litchfield, instead. Every dealer I've talked to over the last few weeks

Got on the phone with Tim Cotter if you want to hear some more details from MX Sports' side of things. There'll be a transcription done tomorrow for those of you that prefer to read. (Sorry for spamming/linking out, but information from the source will bring more clarity to the situation than the emotional meltdowns we've seen in every thread ... more »

Agreed. We joke about how fucked up and disorganized professional racing is, but everyone involved did an amazing job up there. If those races didn't happen, a lot of people would have faced life-changing consequences.

Reply to Will the nationals actually go ahead? 7/1/2020 10:45 AM

Couple of things that are important to know... When we were in Utah, the teams openly said they will only race if there is a certain number of events, and that they would like to see confirmed dates, or else they would not come to any. There was a proposed ... more »

Reply to Best Pro Nationals To Attend. 6/28/2020 12:03 PM

Of the 12 venues that were on the 2019 schedule... Hangtown is good, viewing seems decent from anywhere and it's a rough, fast track. TV doesn't do justice to the speeds that they carry down the technical hills, how big the FLY 150 area is, and the step-up ... more »

Reply to Thursday after Supercross at Glen Helen 6/26/2020 10:04 AM

Showing up to Glen Helen for the first time is a trip, no place like it anywhere in the world. Glad you got to spin a few laps! If you're still around this weekend, you should line up for the Trans Am Vet Classic. Two days of Vet Class racing on a massive ... more »

This isn't confirmed yet. Darian told me this morning that he's still waiting to hear from Mitch.

Just so it’s out there: Mike didn’t print a jersey for this race. He wore that exact one a few weeks ago at the Tampa Pro race the Thursday night before Daytona, it went with his number one plate he had from winning in 2019. Packing it, putting it on, ... more »

Reply to Kawasaki test track in SoCal 5/6/2020 9:32 PM

When you buy a dirt bike, would you rather buy one that you have to completely put together before you can ride it, or a completely built one that you're able to take off the dealership floor, to a gas pump, and then the track? Because this idea of racing ... more »

I see this option being brought up a lot, but that's not really as achievable as you think. All of the test tracks in California are in the same general area, right off the 15. Kawasaki's main track is a lot next to a heavy equipment business, a busy

Heard the other day that the decision will go back a week, so the wait continues... MX Vice just posted a write-up by JT on it.

Reply to TENTATIVE sx start date 4/18/2020 7:04 AM

MotoGP has told riders and teams that they have a tentative plan for races this year, and it’s a skeleton crew at best. Only riders and teams allowed, plus Dorna staff to run the TV cameras and their in-house photographers. No hospitality, no sponsors, ... more »

Reply to Professional sports in Florida are getting the green light to resume production after the Florida Governor's Office deemed them "essential services." 4/15/2020 1:11 PM

Give this a read. It's very extreme example of what procedures would be necessary for MLB to have crowd-free sporting events in full compliance with current guidelines. Some of it comes off as excessive, like the fact that players will have to basically ... more »

Under those rules, we’re more likely to see SX than MX. There would be little to no chance a race happens without fans at WW, as it doesn’t make financial sense for the promoters and puts the season in uncertainty, especially if states that have later ... more »

Reply to But what about the MEC 4/3/2020 8:53 AM

This came up during Prater’s media sessions this week. Right now they still have that date at the venue in Carson and it could be part of the Fall SX schedule, but there seems to be some uncertainty around that now. Because if the MLS Galaxy come back ... more »

There are a number of moto companies with manufacturing in the US, including 3D printers. Now would be a good time to consider a temporary move away from hard parts for bikes and find out what sort of equipment or supplies they could make to support ... more »
