I️ would bet we see the new Kawi just before the start of the ‘18 All Japan Motocross Championship next month. There was some talk they might have rolled it out for a final round or two last year so they have long since completed development.

DRT has the bike on Instagram and I️ see no noticeable difference in the motor.

How is this question related to ET re-injuring his shoulder? If he didn’t like the team or the bike he would not have resigned. Are you saying he’s laying the bike down intentionally to some how get out of something? He wrecked and injured his shoulder ... more »

I️ had a 1980 YZ80 and loved it but it had zero bottom end. It would rev to the moon though. I️ also had a ‘80 KX which had bucket loads of bottom end but zero top end. The RM80 was the bike to own that year as it was the best all around.

ML, have you heard anything remarkable about the ‘19 KX450F beyond what you’ve stated? I’ve heard it will be revolutionary and not just evolutionary.

Added reply in a thread Tomac Possible Shoulder 1/7/2018 6:02 AM

I️ sure hope he’s not seriously injured. Also, Kawi’s are no longer rear steer bikes. I’ve ridden the ‘16-‘18 model plenty and it’s very neutral and can be setup to steer with the front wheel.

As a kid in the late 70’s-early 80’s, I️ dreamed of being able to own one the awesome works bikes from that day. I️ guess that’s what these bikes are.... sort of. Having said that, its also what’s wrong with our sport now. Most folks can’t afford these.... ... more »

Added reply in a thread First Look: 2018 KTM 450 SX-F Factory Edition 12/4/2017 4:46 PM

So how does KTM continue to find ways to make their bikes lighter while the new bikes from Japan get heavier? Serious, what is it about their bikes that make them so much different weight wise?

Added reply in a thread First Look: 2018 KTM 450 SX-F Factory Edition 12/4/2017 11:50 AM

I️ really have to hand it to KTM. They know how to build excitement in this sport like nobody else at the moment. They are pushing R&D and staying one step ahead of the competition.

The bike is both pictures have the same radiator shroud which is angled much differently then the ‘18.

Added reply in a thread Is this the 2018 Husky factory edition? 11/28/2017 11:31 AM

Well the radiator shroud is at a much different angle than the ‘18 so I’d say you’re onto something!

True but that patent drawing is new, not from 2005. We’ll see. I came Into MX in the late 70’s-early 80’s when MX design and tech was advancing constantly. Things are pretty boring these days so I hope some one does try to push things a bit.

I know. I’d bet the suspension part is easy though. Much harder to solve the issues moving the shock to that location creates (ground clearance, access to shock etc.).

Added reply in a thread 2019 bikes 11/6/2017 1:57 PM

That’s actually on a MXGP KX250 2-stoke from around 2005. That just tells you how long they’ve been working on it.

Added reply in a thread 2019 bikes 11/6/2017 9:50 AM

I’ve heard the ‘19 Kawi described as revolutionary. E-start, spring forks, hydraulic clutch and tweaked motor is not revolutionary. I am betting on something big and believe it’s the horizontal shock layout they’ve had in development for years. That

What proposed tariffs are you referring to?

Added reply in a thread Now it's official Suzuki is leaving MXGP series 10/24/2017 8:55 AM

A real shame. This will hurt thier development and R&D because both of those series have historically been used to test new or next gen stuff.
