The exhaust is only available through Yamaha dealers.

GYTR® by FMF® MegaBomb™ Head Pipe part number: B7B-E46A0-V0-00

The bike is running a Vortex ECU with specialist mapping by Multitek.

Awesome, thanks. Is it the same blue color that ships from FMF? It looks lighter in these pictures and on the Yamaha website, but I am not sure if that's just the photography.

Hi, I am pretty sure its the same blue it might just be the photographs that make it look lighter. It might be worth asking FMF the question. It might be an FMF GYTR color specific deal.

Hey NeuroMaxwell,

The FMF follows a similar position to stock, you do get a little bit of boot to exhaust contact on the left hand rear section of the pipe.

Hi 107,

I am thinking hard about getting a Vortex ignition for my 2020 YZ250f, so I was hoping you could give me some insight.

Is it worth the $900 (700+200 for programming)

l have done quite a bit of research but it would be nice to hear from someone that owns the same bike and has a Vortex.

Is a free flowing exhaust like the FMF a must to make the Vortex worth it?

Hi Nik,

I ran the stock ECU with the Preston, Keefer map setting and stock settings it was ok.

But having an ECU tuned to your requirements means the bike can be made much more suitable to your riding ability. I have Muiltiek in the England program my ECU. I can honestly say its a worth while purchase in my opinion.

I think the exhaust is a personal choice and there are so many great manufacturers out there. FMF was my first choice and it offers great value for money. I dont think its maybe as good as Akrapovic fitting wise but its very close performance wise. Having said that recently I purchased an HGS exhaust for a friends 2020 YZF 250 and that systems dyno performance results out performed both FMF and Akrapoivc.

With all these aftermarket products it comes down to maybe a brand you prefer or your country of origin. I visit California quite often and have friends in the area so I always make plans to pick up parts while I am visiting.

If you want I can get a price for you from Multitek in the U.K. for your ECU and programming. it will certainly be cheaper that the $900 you have mentioned.

I can also get you a price for the HGS exhaust system.

I hope this information helps you make a decision.

I am actually located in the Netherlands so not that far.

I fully agree with you about the exhaust brands. It is just a matter of preference. I also heard good things about the HGS .
I understood from talking to someone in the know that it is a good idea to get the pipe first so they can program the ignition accordingly. Otherwise you would have to get it re-programmed.

I also have family in the US, and I have someone inbound this month so it is an opportunity to have them bring some parts. Would definitely be interested in getting a price from Multitek. Maybe we move this conversation to DM.

Motowhips smoothed out the hubs removing any casting marks and then coated the hubs.
