How is throwing your helmet any better? You think alpinestars would be ok with that?

Also, does anyone know what ghost riding his bike actually meant? Sounds like some people think he had the entire team lined up like bowling pins and aimed the bike 3rd gear at them. I imagine him stepping off as he went under the tent (not that it’s ok to do that either).

I’d rather my guy throw his helmet then ghost ride the bike into the damn pits lol you serious? Rango has to fix the bars, levers, and check on whatever else over him just grabbing a different helmet out of his bag, cmon now

Personally, you shouldn’t do either. But you can’t be serious and say it’s better because Rango has to change a pair of bars and levers as opposed to alpinestars having to replace a helmet. You think it’s ok to disrespect one and not the other?  Get lost with that. Go in your hauler a punch yourself else in the leg over destroying someone else’s work. As a person that sponsors many teams around the world with product, I would be pissed if I saw a rider do it to my product, idc if I just give him seat cover and graphics.

Yaa you shouldn’t do either but yaa I’m way serious in throwing your helmet over a bike lol are you serious? You’re the step up champ Ronnie Renner right? It’s wayyyy better to swap the helmet and have media saying he threw a helmet in frustration over ghost riding a bike. Ghost riding a bike after a bad moto means “fuck this bike” to me. Throwing your helmet after the moto tells me you’re pissed about your moto and frustrated. No one will think twice and think alpinestars makes shit products because he threw a helmet. Him ghost riding his bike tells me he hates the bike and is over it. Very very different. If im Maxima and he launches my chain lube, I could give 2 shits, if I’m Kawi and he ghost rides my bike, I’m fining you’re ass. So get lost with that

I’ve always thought I’d be a Great Life Coach. First thing I’d tell Chase is Pull Your Head Out of Your Ass! After that we’d hug it out and he’d still finish 4th.

I mean over the years we’ve seen, or heard of, many riders doing things like this when losing their temper. Kicking bikes over, breaking shit,…..there’s any number of similar examples.
Is it an incident that the team needs to address? Of course. Is it worthy of ten pages of outrage? That seems a little over dramatic to me.

Okay there’s too many replies to quote you all 😂

Do people think ghost riding the bike (remembering we don’t know the specifics of whether the bike was stepped off, or launched) is worse than kicking the bike off its stand? Which plenty of popular riders have done. As an ex-mechanic I don’t even like the disrespect of the bike when they deliberately destroy it doing burnouts after a win, but I do find the level of outrage in here a bit amusing considering we don’t know the details.

If there’s footage showing Sexton launching his bike at team members, okay fair enough.
However, it could have been as simple as stepping off the back of the bike and letting it fall over., which in that case I think kicking a bike off the stand is just as bad and this has all been dramatised.

Does anyone here really know?

What we want to know is if the bike hit Garret or anyone else.

I also wonder if Gareet is sick of any drama from the #1 guy while they pay him pennies in comparison.

I would also like to see this Rango guy look Jorge Sexton dead in his eyes and say...."You....you want me to pick up the bike?... The stand is right their mee ho"

I don’t think it is a local weekend decision by Kawi team mgmt to discipline or fire Chase. They will have to run it up a few levels and write a press release. Same as with Prado; corporate has their control and game plan.

Same as with AMA. They will have to do something, even if toothless championship points.

Rango should’ve left his bike right where he ghost rode it and took it to the starting line for the next moto as is and only topped off with gas

In all seriousness....   It would not shock me a bit to see a press release this week "Kawasaki and Chase Sexton have parted ways" ......  KHI does not put up with that kind of shit at all.  Not after the lengths they have gone to please him.

ML confirmed with team members that it happened.  I’m sure if there was video it would have surfaced by now.

Normally a guy riding back to the pits is a mundane occurrence so no-one would have been filming in anticipation of something like this happening.

If true that is a major problem itself with the way the team is managed.

According to the reports, the bike nearly hit Marchbanks, not hit him as in this thread title.

“Nearly hit” could mean anything from he had to jump out of the way, to standing nearby. Which is why some details would be nice before everyone gets their knickers in a twist, but too late.

ML’s word is good enough for me, but imo there’s all sorts of degrees to the level of seriousness to the situation. Which I’d like to know before totally crucifying someone. It was the same with Prado last year.
Not saying it’s not out of line though, because it is.

Well, as of Sunday evening…we’ve got 108:2 for my “Chase, you’re fired!” ratio.

Hey, Dan? DO IT!

In reasoned adult equivalents that's what, a couple handfuls of people? You think C-Suite CEO's/Execs at $20B++ MNC's give .02c what a very narrow band of easily frothed fanatics in a almost closed loop  i.e. populating a forum with near zero audience/reach/influence outside it's small footprint, thinks. They don't.

It's the same core group of you weighing in on most things with outsized hyperboly. Does anybody have real context? 2 MPH step-off? 20mph aim and shoot?  You don't, yet you believe yourselves informed sufficiently to draw outsized conclusions, and even better, recommend his termination "Hey Dan? DO IT!". Sure. Yep. Bet he's printed that off.

Until context presents itself I think the suggestion he be fired premature.  Where's Vital's reporting on this? Use that access you claim so important to transparency to report, you know, actual news/facts/eye-witness accounts.

C’mon mate, you are starting to split hairs here.  The act itself is inappropriate, not whether or by how much it missed someone else.

Edit to add - the action/penalty should be appropriate to the actual outcome, not whether it should be investigated and actioned.

You know, there's always 2 sides to a story, and so far this entire thread is based on one MXA tweet and ML stating team members confirmed the incident happened.

But what about after? Is there a chance Chase was apologetic and remorseful to Marchbannks and the team for a momentary emotional outburst?

Logic would suggest that an act of this nature without remorse or explanation gets you benched immediately for at least the day by a competent management team.

I wouldn’t want him if I were his employer now. I also wouldn’t want to cut him loose to go to another team. I’d want to have him sit out without pay for a while to reconsider his choices.

He has no right to treat his team like that no matter how upset he is. I think he needs psychological help and a neurological evaluation if he’s having that much trouble controlling himself.

Does Anybody know tbe actual make of bike Chase wants to ride.

He is one hell of a rider but it seems he has disrespected His Teams a few times now.

Ghosting your Bike when Losing is not cool. Him & Ken will make a good Team

Get that man on a Suzuki.  It's always seemed like a natural fit for what Chase is looking for.

I hate seeing talent wasted.

I like the idea…. But the front end washes don’t lend themselves well to a kick start.

Point taken.

The hope being that the front end feel of the Suzuki would lead to less of that.

You might be right; Suzi is a very well balanced cycle. I just want to see Chase in the mix riding to his potential, more the merrier when it comes to the podium rotation.

Ryno.....  The same guy who ghost rode a KTM 125 into the pits after a bad moto?  Bitched and called his bike a moped? Yeah, he is exactly what Chase needs.......
