Hi all,
Just an FYI I’m being scammed by a guy on eBay. His name is Billy Bonner from California, eBay name is yzracer85.
I sold him a Pro Circuit chain guide, no response post delivery to say he wasn’t happy but a chargeback request today with item not as described. No messages, no case, just a chargeback.
I work for a company in the Moto industry and this guy also ordered something from our outlet on eBay and guess what, the same. If this guy pops up in your eBay store I would cancel the order and move on, seems like a POS!
ebay doesnt care about sellers. theyre going down the shitter quick.
Got scammed on eBay for $2k. I don’t use PayPal or eBay anymore
It’s bad, luckily it’s only £70 but I thought it was worth a mention to people
I don’t understand things anymore, maybe I’m old fashioned but buying something, paying for it and using it are pretty basic things for people, doesnt really need to be any more complicated than that
It seems to be the way now on there. Sold some bike stuff on eBay and the seller claimed he never received the stuff, despite tracking details and delivery receipt. EBay just reimbursed him and PayPal came after me for my account being overdrawn. I raised a claim and said was scammed and after a few calls and threats from me to take them to a claims court the wavered it.

Continue escalating with ebay's customer service processes. Eventually a real person will look at the details and make a reasonable decision.
Ebay filters out the noise by making it a slight PITA to overturn claims.
My brother and I just won a case yesterday on eBay. The buyer admitted to damaging the item before sending it back. Initially they sided with the buyer, but we were going to do an exchange after we received the original item back. The item (a tree) was dead when we got it back, he admitted to hitting the roots of the tree when he was digging it up to send it back. He never told us any of this before sending the tree back. We believe there was ill intent there, he wanted us to send a 2nd tree for free because he "wasn't happy" with the first tree. That's not how that works, we will let you return the tree and we send another tree in it's place.
Had he not admitted to damaging the tree eBay probably would have sided with him, they did initially.
eBay removed his negative feedback and, I believe, he was charged for the order, it looks like we got the money back that they originally refunded to him.

You sold a tree on eBay? People buy trees on eBay? Crazy.
I deliver trees all the time. They are small at one point, ya' know.
Sure! Just seems out of place on eBay to me. We have nursery’s every 10’ down the road here so maybe it’s a geographic thing.
Way back as a kid I bought a video game on eBay and only got the case, no disc. Read the listing and sure as shit it was creatively worded. I felt absolutely robbed. Good little lesson.
100% true. Both eBay and Paypal are absolute piles of hot garbage.
What's the best outlet to sell stuff these days? Like memorabilia where you want to reach a large audience.
Unfortunately eBay. I try selling on forums and locally, and always sells quicker and easier on eBay. But the fees are getting crazy. Not even sure how it’s legal to charge part of your selling fee on the taxes part.
And unfortunately he's right. Some items, like memorabilia, just sell better on eBay due to the wide scope of people the site reaches. I'd like to think items like these, you are somewhat safe to sell on their platform because you're going to be dealing with a core moto guy/gal that wants unique piece of history.
My experience is as long as you don't grossly misrepresent the item, you're selling to buyers in the moto community and they are pretty trustworthy. It's when you try to sell general items - an unused graphics kit, a pair of goggles, boots that are too small - is when the weasels come out.
You have to set your price that weeds the riff-raff out and allows you to still make money after eBay tacks on all of their ridiculous and oppressive fees (which go up every year).
Otherwise in person cash sales are still king, if you can manage.
glad I'm not the only 1 fooled! Way back in early days of eBay, I bought a moto item that was reasonably priced. What I actually got was a picture of the item. I complained and seller quoted a sketchy, poorly worded sentence in their description. It didn't meet eBay selling criteria so eventually got my $ back. I've got hit the other direction too. Had a set of new vintage Yamaha side plates for sale. Got snapped up quick and I shipped as soon as payment posted. I tracked them until delivered. Couple days later I get notified by eBay seller filed a case of "not as described" complaining about scratches, fading, etc. That I KNEW weren't there. eBay locked my account until I refunded him and took 2 months to get the plates back and they had no defects just like he received them from me. Worst part is he was a fellow VMXer and active on same sites as me and I had advertised the them there 1st for less but he never asked about buying them there.
Sorry about your luck. eBay just sucks anymore. The side with the buyer no matter what, afraid to run them off I suppose.
Last week I sold a part on eBay, used the eBay check out, printed the label I bought from eBay and shipped it. About 2 weeks later I get a notice from eBay stating they were charging me $5.50 for an "incorrect shipping address". Live chat was telling me to contact UPS. I explained that eBay was the shipper of record because eBay supplied the label. After getting escalated to a 'level 2 supervisor' she explained that eBay could not refund me the money as the charge was from UPS, I said BS, charge the customer or refund me the money. after several minutes of back and forth She said I would receive a credit on my eBay account which I have yet to see. F$*K eBay!
