He had good speed and came through the pack first two motos, id like to see lap times on those two motos and he didn’t get gapped by Ken, didn’t Ken win a main even this last year? When will the denial stop? He’s the real deal and is exciting to watch ride.

You might be in denial.

If I were him, I'd be concerned if he couldn't make his way through the majority of the guys he lined up against.

Also, finishing 15+ seconds behind Roczen in an 8 lap race is not being gapped? Main 3 he was 21 seconds back.

People see what they want to see, I guess.

Fill that gap with Sexton, Tomac, Jett, Hunter, Webb, Plessinger, Stewart, Barcia. Ferrandis, and that third can easily become an 8-10.

He's got some work to do.

While funny, there is some truth in that. I'm not saying he won't be good on a 450 but I don't think he's podium level yet if it were a full 20 minute AMA SX main event. Based on who he was battling with, I'd guess he'd be around 8th right now which is solid and he will certainly get better with more time on the bike. I thought he would've been closer to the front not battling with Zaragoza.

He burned up a couple clutches in 8 lap motos. How is that going to work in 20 minute, 20+ lap motos?

My answer:

By spending time learning to ride the 450…like a 450. And…he’s got plenty of time to figure that out.

We’re looking at his 1st time out there with some of the fastest 450 SX riders. I’m sure some have said/some will say…WSX doesn’t count or those guys aren’t the same as racing against Chase or Jett…yada, yada, yada…

That’s all fine; but, last-night he WAS racing against some of the fastest 450 riders in the world. Period. And that IS a good “measurement” of what he needs to do in the future to be competitive amongst the 450s. He took 3 gates against some Very Fast Company. It was a Real World Learning Experience.

It’s that simple to me.

But, let’s remember, I’m an old fart that’s usually very busy yelling at those damn kids to get the hell of off my lawn! 🤣

Have a Great Sunday.

Why was Deegan last gate pick when he qualified seventh?

And, there was a Stark in both 250 and 450 classes? How does that work?

(Sorry if the answers are buried in another thread somewhere)

I thought he did fine, even tightened up some of his technique. Yes he was overriding the bike with exaggerated aerial maneuvers but he's just a kid racing a 450 for the first time in front of a crowd. It was just a stepping stone to the AMA, but it went well.

Not a good look for the cringe lord last night... getting beat by Cooper and kroc... neither are top 5 in real sx... his team couldn't figure out how to pick a gate, while everybody else had no issue... then he looked stoked afff to finish third... like he won the thing or something... lmao.... basically another cringey night for deegs and crew...

His team was too busy making vids to be bothered to leave the pits to pick his gate

To give the rest of the pack a chance to win.  Imagine if he didn't have fried clutches and got a holeshot...

Yeah, no mention of burnt out clutches in two motos, 7 days on the bike in sx, and it's his first race.  Some people will just never give Haiden credit.  If that was Jo, they'd lose their nuts over him getting third overall.

The first race he came from nearly dead last to 4th in an 8 lap sprint also passing jcoop. Not sure what you watched you probably don’t know either with all the drugs you are on

Took him 3 laps to get by Polletteli

That showed why a bike with no shifting and ultra-linear power shouldn't be competing against ICE bikes.

Agreed. That was a good example of the torque pulling harder out of corners and deegan abusing the clutch to try to pass him.

Maybe he wouldn't have roached the clutch if he wasn't trying to best a different superior torque curve?

Hell yeah, they should definitely ban those bikes, they don't belong here.

Damn CRF450R have too much of an advantage, it's obvious 🤣

Joe's not a dick! The kid can ride but has zero class! Just like his dad money doesn't buy class!

Deegan is ready for the 450… He rode great, had Cooper pass him and he passed him back. Both classes will be better. These were also short races, which you give Ken Roczen 8 lap races and he is a 5x SX champion lol. I feel like in longer races Deegan will only get stronger.

He’s rather polarizing.  One group of people believe he’s deity and can do no wrong and they make excuses for anything that isn’t divinity.

The other camp loathes him.

I’m in the latter camp.  I don’t worship people.

94 isn’t in the same zip code as 18.  38 has fit a lot of work to do to even be close to 18, 96, 3, 4, and honestly, 2.

What was the excuse last night?

It's as if spending years advertising yourself as a reprehensible public figure costs you the priviledge of having the benefit of the doubt, but I guess we have to be reminded that we're the problem.

"What was the excuse last night?"

There was a few...all perfectly valid IMO.

* He's never seen, let alone ridden a 450 in his entire life before this race, so it's all new to him.

* A bad batch of clutches.

* Broken collarbone.

* Bad gate.

* Politelli was running Honda graphics on a Stark Varg.

I noticed that HD38 was exhausted when they interviewed him. He needs to build strength to be able to compete for US Supercross (20 minute races)

Like when Hunter first jumped up to the 450, he stated that that is a big heavy machine or something to that effect.

Questioning Deegans cardio wasn’t on my bingo card. Basing that off of a short interview at the end of a 12 lap sprint race (3rd race btw) of the night.

Deegs will be fine. At least as long as ‘fine’ doesn’t include beating Jett with any consistency anytime soon. Pretty much like every other rider in the world.

His interview with Lewis was refreshing in that it lacked any douchbaggery. There’s hope…

Why rush do sx 250 and switch 450 outdoors. He needs time on the 450.
