I'm going with Marty Moates' USGP ride in 1980. Not because Marty won both motos by some massive margin, but because of the fire he lit under the collective asses of US riders for the next decade plus. Americans only lost one 500 USGP between '80 - '86 (and it was due to a weird FIM rule at the time that had Carla beat Glover on time, rather than overall scores), we won 12 straight MXdNs (including the already mentioned dominate ride by Magoo in '82), and tons of 250 & 125 USGP races against the best Europe had to offer.

Yes. It lit that fire and gave confidence that the dominant Euros could be beat.

This definitely belongs in the conversation IMO. I really wish I could find those full motos online

Hannah was within eyeshot of the second place rider (Howerton) on the final lap after lapping the entire field before his skiing accident.  Next level.

First moto at Pala² 2022.
Both needed to win.  These guys were 77-seconds ahead of third place.   Unbelievable !!!  Tomac passed for the lead towards the end.  BEAST

Carmichael lapping the field in muddy conditions is quite different than winning by 60-90 seconds in perfect conditions

Exactly. Crazy things happen in a mudder. Wrecking the field in dry, perfect conditions is way more impressive. Tomac beat Ryan Dungey by over a minute. 8x MX/SX champion in his peak 25yr old Ryan Dungey. Ryan Dungey who actually won the title that year!

I just remembered after tomac smoked Dungey they interviewed Dungey. When asked what he needed to do to beat tomac and he was extremely rattled and frustrated like I've never seen Dungey before.

I would be a bit stunned too if I was one of the best riders and just got gapped by over a minute while pulling off 6 seconds a lap faster.

I will say that ride was an anomaly though. Amazing anomaly, but one nonetheless.

Dunge never got wrecked like that. He kept RV honest outdoors and beat him straight up plenty of times. RV wouldn't blow his doors off by 30 sec. He had 10-15sec gaps on Dunge. Tomac buried him by a minute plus

Damon Huffman 97 Troy,Ohio hottest race ever. He beat RC by 2 1/2 minutes .

The most dominant ride I ever personally witnessed was Herlings Lierop 2012. Never seen anything like that before. In his dominant MX2 years (2012-2016), you could guarantee him putting over at least a minute on the second guy at sand GP's.

If you think about dominant rides.. Obviously Tomac 2015, Stewart Toronto 2014, Roczen Millville 2016, Carmichael Millville 2006 all come to mind

No one going with Millville ‘06? Ricky lapping the entire field? Personally I think Eli in moto 2 at Hangtown is one of the most dominant rides of all time. Maybe not #1 but there’s a argument for it. RC lapped everybody. Herlings in 2012 was insanely impressive, losses some points for being in the 250 class, but RC and Reed lapped the entire field in a Supercross inside of 20 laps…. Roughly 15 minutes. Think about that

Its obviously impressive RC lapped the field but something nobody talks about from this race every time its brought up is like everybody was down at one point and couldnt get their bikes unstuck. Stew fell on one of the up hills and his bike was literally stuck for like 5 straight minutes. Again, impressive but he started out front and just didn't crash in the swampy mess the track was.

Not really comparable to Eli straight up smacking the field by 90 seconds on a prime track IMO.

Crashing is apart of racing. As I said no one mentioning it is weird. I personally think Tomacs is in debate for #1 ride. RV 07 MXDN should be in there too.

2015 was bonkers.  As he said, the ruts were bad that year, and there he was jumping into them.

listening to tomac talk about the start to that season he felt invincible.. unfortunately it bit him at Lakewood (where he was going 4 seconds a lap faster).  His ride as glen Helen that year was really good too.

It was crazy how fast he was going. I believe Stewart did somethin  similar in the opening rounds of the 2012 Nats, though not 5-6 seconds a lap faster.

I agree with this as he came from outside the top 20 in both motos to go 1-1 if I remember correctly. I still remember Bailey was talking about how Tortelli was going to have a hard time passing guys like he was earlier in the moto. Then Tortelli proceeds to pass 4-5 guys in less than a lap leaving Bailey speechless.

If Tortelli never gets hurt after winning RedBud (passing RC to do it) RC may have had different stats. BUt then again, IF my aunt had balls she would be my uncle......

Or maybe JS259 going from last to first on a 125 against almost all 250F's....

SO many great rides throughout the years. Hard to pick

If my aunt had balls..........

That dosent ring true nowdays with all these wierdo types.

I was there at Lakewood when the crowd went silent.  The other time the crowd was instantly and completely deflated was when he tore his achilles at the Denver Supercross.  Both were pretty devastating to watch.

Pretty sure Tomac went down in 2015 in the same Lakewood rut section that Stew crashed in in 2012.

I was there. It was unbelievable. BUT, BUT the weather was the biggest factor that day. NOT that Ricky was god-like. He got the holeshot and ran away, everyone else crashed multiple times...end of story.

It was amazing no doubt. But I will nominate Stew and RC multiple times in 2006 and 2007. Red Bud 2007 was just ridiculous.

Hannah at Binghamton in 83 was pretty amazing as well. He gapped the little professor by a lot that day
