Hi everyone , this is my first time dealing with the rebuild of a bottom end . Im not going to do it myself but im buying all the parts (rocky mountain or ProX website) and i dont know if im missing something important like how much bearings and seals the bottom end has. Also when people talk about rebuild a crank , they mean to change the connecting rod and true the crank only or there is something else that im missing?.

This is the parts that i listed to rebuild the bottom end for CR 250 2000 (without transmission)

1) Pro X complete connecting rod kit

2) Pro X complete gasket kit

3)Pro X Crankshaft bearing and seal kit

4)Pro X big end pin

5) Pro X countershaft seal kit

6)Pro X piston pin bearing

7) Pro X crankshaft seal set (maybe the same seals of item 3)

(this goes with top end kit Pro X first size 64.34mm, replate cyl with nikasyl, clutch kit ) this is just for peace of mind and just focus in having fun and dont worry about a 25 years old engine to go boom.

I dont know if im missing more seals or bearings of the crankshaft or countershaft, hope you can help me . Sometimes i think of buying a  rebuild kit from HotRods but i read that the quality of their bearings arent too good.

Thanks !

You shouldn’t need 7 as the seals will come with the bearings. The schematics for the OEM parts on RMATV is great, go through all the engine diagrams and add each bearing you see in the bottom end to your cart. If you hover your mouse over the callout number on the schematic, RMATV will populate a window to add to your cart with the recommended quantity for the drawing. Usually Honda OEM parts are pretty fair, so I would just buy those instead of trying to hunt down a kit of lesser quality.

Pro-X is good stuff, I’d avoid Hot Rods. Just my opinion.

Number 16 if it has the tabs you bend to lock it in place. I usually get extra woodruff keys for the crank (incase you lose those tiny things)

Get honda seals especially for the crank. Avoid hot rods stuff
