I loved my 07.. Not sure what the tranny problem he's referring to is. All i know is I never had a tranny problem with mine. Only thing I didn't like about the bike was trying to find neutral was impossible. I do know the thing was fast. I was pulling holeshots like crazy in the 30+ B class vs a gate full of 450's on the flat starts. Had problems getting good starts at washougal vs the 450's but that's because it's an up hill start. One thing that's cool about the 07 is the price. Last I saw my local shop out here in Oregon had two left over brand new ones for $3599.. And with no sales tax in oregon that's out the door.

I'm on my 5th RMZ 1/07, 1/08, 2/09 and now a 2010 and I have never had a problem with any.
Best handling bike I've ever owned. I still own both the 09's.
07 tranny can be fixed with a spring.

WFO did they fix the 07 tranny issue later in the year? I bought mine in November of 07 and never had an issue and I had it til February 09..

Rdog for what the shops are selling the new leftover 07's for if you can find one there's no better deal out there.

The spring allowed it to shift into gear with more pressure. I could tell the difference. With all the 09's out there you can get a great deal. The 2010 has changed a lot in frame, suspension, plastic, gearing and FI but my 09's are still as fast, just not AS responsive off the bottom. I changes to a 13/49-50 rear depending on track. 2010 comes with 13/48 and can pull it.
For me the bikes are great. Good Luck!

07 only. install the updated shift shaft return spring and the updated spring washer in the clutch stack. Should be good after that. Both are pretty easy to install by removing the main clutch cover.

08 already has those updates. Good out of the box.

Both need a gearing change. 13/50 I believe. A slip on muffler really brings out the top end. Thats been a complaint that they don't have top end power.

I have an 07 and really like it.

We had 1/ 2008/ 4 /2009 and now 2 / 2010 250rmz and only problem was a cracked frame from pin hole in weld.
Had 1 of the 2009 done with pro circuit motor etc and my son rides the 2010 stock and reckons it is better all round smooth power.
They are a good bike dead stock.
We clocked up 100+ hours on the 2008 before we changed piston. Very Lucky and bike is still going strong.

Had an 07 and 2 08's. Been on suzukis for 10 years just switched to yamaha. I loved the handling on the suzukis but thats about it. Had tranny problems with the 07 even with the spring fixed. Would hit false netural going up fases off jumps pulling up a hill would to it a least once ever weekend race. Until one time when if happend and ended up bailing in the air broke my femur, and a torn ACL. Was out for 8 months. Sold the 07 while i was down bought the 08s and never hit false netural but had a shifter fork go and had to have tranny fixed 1200 dollars later it was fixed. Power wise stock compared to the yamaha It doesnt pull as quick. Mid power on the rmz's take time to get use to it feels like your not putting any power out its like a dead spot you feel the need to shift but you really dont need to just need a little more throttle.

All in all in my option after 10 years on suzukis and now on yamaha I love my yzf so much better then the rmzs and you cant beet the realabilty on the yzfs. In my 2 cent the best overall bikes stock are the yzf and kxf.

Didn't he make it clear when he said earlier that he wasn't a "slow pussy rider?" C'mon now....
Personally, I'd be far more concerned with the MPG figures than the top-speed numbers, but that is just me....

My son rode the bejesus out of our '07. 140 hrs and never had to adjust valves, still in spec.
I did the clutch update, but never had a problem with shifting.

This was our first four-stroke, and honestly, I was scared to death it would grenade.

FMF megabomb and a little leaning out in warm weather and she screamed!

I got my second 09 now (it's similar to 08). Between both 09's I got kxf 250 2009. And I sold it and bought Suzuki back. It's great bike for me, a lot better then Kawasaki.
