I actually caught his practice start and he rolled forward and then popped the clutch and looked back at a spot in the rut. It looked like he had a knuckle in his rut and he tried to blast it out with the clutch and rear tire. Thats the only thing im assuming the poster is talking about above.

Do any of you have guidelines on when and how rule bending should work? 

I think it's stupid they track doesn't maintain beyond the gate. They go as far as using starting grates, why not maintain the rest. There were some shitty holes.
