It's a bit late!
Are you kidding me?
Triumph might have the most incompetent yet arrogant marketing team in motorcycle industry history.
Have you been following Stark?
I can't believe there's 2 pages moaning about the cover image of their upcoming youtube video. Just wait 3 hours and you'll have the full video with all the information and imagery you could want.

Welcome to Vital. You must be new. As such... STFU Noob.
So RC rides it Sept 5th. I'm assuming we should be able to see the full bike at that point.
Another disappointing video, showed some random parts and the same 4 inch square section of the motor 10 times.
I gathered that it had really broad usable power they mentioned over and over. It appears to have a long oil screen like the KTM motors do.
So on the Vital Facebook page it said there is key differences between the Triumph motor and the KTM. What are the key differences between them?
Can we stop the fluff and get to real details?
No disrespect to all the guys on the team, but with Dave Arnold being a part of this tells me it will be good when they release it. Now on to August 29 to release the shock bolt. LOL
Layout on the other side looks the super similar to KTM as well
Its weird how similar it is but also different enough that the castings and everything would have to be totally different
Tensioner is on the front, Engine rotation reversed?
Thats the way the KTM 250 and 350 engines are now. Timing chain is on the right side and there is an intermediate gear for the timing chain.
Plastic oil pump gear, no coating on the piston:
Aluminum basket and friction plates:
Yeah, you can see that coolant flange is on the front of the cylinder head on the Triumph but comes out the side of the cylinder head on the KTM. Certainly no secret where they pulled some inspiration from, though!
Glad we finally have a release date to see the whole thing.

Finger follower valvetrain:

Could they talk anymore and say less?? Good grief this is such a bad roll out…
no surprise it looks similar to a ktm engine I believe both triumph and ktm are in bed with Bijaj.
Yep finger follower.
The 3 cylinder Moto2 engine is buckets so no carry over there.
I'm wondering if it is running a plain bearing on the big end?
you guys' just suck. waa waa waa. can't just let it happen can you?
Amen brother. I would be happy even if they just took a stock KTM engine and put it in their own chassis. They are doing more than that.
I was hoping to see them try some different things on this bike so we didnt end up with yet another ktm clone but its starting to look more and more that way. I guess since its using an aluminum frame that makes it different by being an aluminum framed ktm, but it still seems extremely similar. I guess I could see that being popular though I feel like the steel frame is a benefit so if you wanted the best ktm you would just buy a ktm.
Its easy to feel like weve reached peak parity and the bikes have to be the same due to where we are in manufacturing and physics, but yamaha was able to do something completely different and have a ton of success with it. We know ducati is coming to the mx world and theres a chance they could use a desmodromic valve train. There are still other options available for innovation that doesnt have to be cannondale crazy.
I understand triumph doesnt want to be cannondale 2.0 and try so many new things that it doesnt do any one thing good, but I think theyve learned to only try one or two new things at a time. On the other hand if they keep the bike too safe and too conventional nobody would have a reason to buy them over someone else, so they need to do something different. Its going to be interesting how they ride that line.
Sure, the marketing mumbo jumbo sucks, but there’s a difference:
one company announced their from the ground up new motorcycles 20 months ago and is now shipping to customers.
the other announced their bike years ago and is now teasing us with a few pics of a copycat engine.
It's just a lame move to talk about "starting from scratch" and doing all this "ground up" engineering and then they finally show something and its nearly identical to an existing engine. It would be fine if they were just up front about using an existing engine so they can focus on the chassis or at least provide some explanation.
So far just Copy of Yamaha old frame and current KTM engine. Still waiting that ground breaking innovation RC was talking...
Except this bike will come with kyb suspension. So similar engines cases. Entirely different frame and suspension. Not that similar.
Triumph is using a CNC machined aluminum frame that is tig welded together. How is that even remotely similar to the old steel Yamaha frame?
You guys live in a very superficial world, basing everything on looks and appearance and not taking into consideration any substance whatsoever. Such is the shallow world we live in now.
More of the same.
MX bike technology is mature and has plateaued.
Yamaha's highly succesful forward intake cylinder head is the only real innovation for 10 years.
How successful it is in the long term will come down to how good the men preparing it are and how willing the factory is to spend on development.
Post a reply to: Triumph September, maybe?
