If they wanted to bring somebody in to help develop the bike for ferrandis they could go the chiz route but they’ve already been there and I doubt he’d be willing to change his current plans without serious money. I’m sure Star/Yamaha already have plenty of money and time sunk into development/testing for the race bike.

If there's no chance at winning it's worse than a waste of money. You spend the money and damage the brand.

You have to have a reasonable chance of bettering the brand. And bettering the brand does not mean winning, there are development advantages but, there has to e a value. And literally what is the value? To see another blue bike on the track?

Total rubbish!

Well. Roger decoster pretty much said the same thing while he was at suzuki.  Not worth taking a factory bike off the stand to watch a guy ride around 15-20 th place.  Alex Ray had a chance. At. Yamaha.  Didnt change much.

Who wouldn't tune in to see that??

(That said, HD has a legit chance at the 250 title IMO, and he wouldn't have a legit chance at the 450 title this year)

Deegan graduated high school recently. So he has ticked 1 of them.

Someone going 10 seconds a lap slower isn't going to help with development for Dylan other than what color of plastic looks the coolest.

You think grant Harlan can help develop a factory bike for ferrandis? It would take him a year to understand how a factory team/ bike fully operates. Let alone actually trying to develop the bike.

it’s not worth the money and time for these teams.

Idk man have you seen the size of dudes head? He may just have a thing or two going on inside of that baby, read a comic book once in a while jeez

Fair question.

In this situation it’s not about getting a great result. There would be a lot of ‘eyes’ on the products and sponsor logos if the team selected the right rider. A fan favourite, a privateer, an underdog. Someone the fans think is cool to follow.
Even someone like RV2, or Chad Reed- we know they won’t win, or even top 5-10, but the fans would love it and people all over the globe would be excited to see it.

Arguably more exciting than watching Jett run away with it as he is..

Succesfully Promoting a product/sponsors is far more than just winning.

This.............is another good take/reason to fill the seat!

....and reedy wld be great with setup....but there wld others that cld help with bike dev as well.

fair call  ....but my argument is they wld not be 10 sec a lap slower ... a top 15 currenlty 2-3 sec a lap down wld actually move up closer to the front on a factory bike ???   surely?

not dissing on STAR anyways just surprised there was no Plan  B for the 450 crew when they seem to have a plan B ,C ,D and E for that 250 squad...........absolute pipeline of young talent!!!

In my opinion, those are shoes that you can't just fill.

Hell, if they did need a fill in guy, why look outside the team? The 450 class is so beat up right now they could move a guy like Jordon Smith up and he would do just fine.

I would like to see that; see how he'd do for a few rounds. If he's up there with the factory riders, then leave him there for the rest of the season. He is capable of putting in some surprising rides I believe.

Is that the same Roger who took a bike off the stand for Clement Desalle’s one-off ride at Unadilla in 2010?

What was the point?
no championship contention in one race.

Totally different situation. Desalle was a factory MXGP Suzuki rider at the time and was battling Dungey in that race

He would have to keep it on two wheels for that to happen, doubtful.

Why would you move up J Coop? Why would you move a title contender up to get 3-5? That would be stupid.

Just having someone on the bike racing isn’t the goal. The goal is to win. Tomac already more than proved the new bike in SX.
