Was there an issue with Eli’s suspension? A couple weeks ago he blows through on a seemingly harmless section and blows his hand off. Then last night he blows through on a typical rhythm with a typical g-out transition and blows his foot apart.
He’s on an air fork right? Is there a problem with his system that just goes straight through the stroke or something?
Weird that a bottoming out situation caused a crash and now a possible career ending injury.
Ummm,........no.
Land with your toes on the pegs and this will happen no matter what you have as suspension.
😑
What about bottoming and blowing your hand off on a sight lap?

You’re just trying so hard to blame it on something. Injury’s happen, can’t blame it on his suspension. Also he hit a hole that blew his hand off, it also wasn’t the sight lap.
Just Speculation but I have a feeling he partially tore his achilles earlier in the day/week sometime and it just didn’t take much to finish it off in the main.
I watched him overjump a few things in the heat and land super hard. Also the wall jump dub had a brutal landing.
I’m really not. Just speculating. Total freak accident, rider error, or equipment malfunction.
Crazy things happen in racing. But with the caliber of rider Eli is it’s weird to me. Reminds me of riding my 91’ KDX200.
Ruptured Achilles can happen anytime. Doesn’t have to be a certain extreme flex of ankle.
For example: many NFL players experience it just doing normal running movements.
I think the bewts are to blame
I also thought about the suspension at the practice crash
2x supercross champion on arguably the best bike in the field, after basically a full season of SX testing. The suspension is close enough to perfect, I'd say.
Its those turd quality Alpinestars with their cute little booty. What a safe boot lmao.
Explain what you think is the A-star connection please.
The booties are anti ankle rotation not flexion limiters.
Partially torn achillies?
Yeah.
I did it years ago while riding and had a very sore lower calf for a good while. It can happen. (As an electrician going up and down ladders it really sucked!)
Literally the stiffest, most protective boot against this specific injury. If Tomac had the hyperflexion rubber removed then that is on him. Atojo is pretty much the only other boot with this protection.
He said in the vital video that super cross blasted the calves more than MX. Professional level athletes get overuse injuries. It’s nothing new.
I shattered both of my ankles last august in a set of sidis and bought tech 10’s after. Ended up with a rod/6 screws in one ankle and 4 screws in the other ankle. I can promise you tech 10’s are pretty dam high quality and the booty adds a significant amount of support therefore confidence. It’s like putting on new ankles. Can’t blame this injury on tech 10’s it could literally happen to anyone at anytime no matter what you are wearing
Pit Row
Looks like some type of boot failure. They looked loose or straps came undone.
I don't know what it is about these forums, why is there always something you're looking for to blame.
Going off the the footage of the injury that achilles was a ticking time bomb, just like hamstrings and ACL's in stick and ball sports you don't know you had a problem until it randomly easily pops.
Looked like he went through the section completely normal. Like they do hundreds of times on a sx weekend. You could tell where ruptured, causing him to come up slightly shorter the next section. Just a freak thing. Sucks. But it happens in all sports.
Thanks all for the input. My thoughts and questions answered . I had made a new thread about boots before seeing this one... oops

For Tomac, I am leaning toward age and specific condition being the cause here, freak accident. Awaiting to hear from him soon to know the whole story.
I always been stretching and quick on my legs, bikes, running, martial arts ( NOT jiu jitsu ), always zippy around the dogs to tire them. Am one of the few who jogs at the range to replace the 600 yards targets, skip the elevators and jog the stairs etc...
And then all the sudden I tore an ACL while playing with the dog. Mild play. I told the doc I've been doing this my whole life and he's like " yup, but nobody gets younger. You are not in your 20s anymore. " Yeah but what about my buddy's dad, in his 50s ?
"Genetics. We are not all build the same. " Darn. When can we enhance those human physical limitations with after market joints ?
This sport is hard on the body, getting older makes things worse. To be the best you need to ride on the balls of your feet and although Tomac is arguably the fastest rider on the track he is not the smoothest rider on the track, between his age, riding style and this brutal demanding sport this kind of shit happens! I wish him a speedy and complete recovery.
You mean the suspension that put him back on top of the moto world? No.
JS7 has an interesting insight into Eli’s crash - relating to suspension.

Please don't make me laugh while im eating. Its a choking hazard.
James thinks something ain’t right with his suspension all year. Go ahead and remove all those thumbs down you nerds that obviously aren’t on the same level as me and JS7 when it comes to bike set up.
