On paper I'd say they're going to have the strongest team in the premier class for the foreseeable future

Agree with you and USA, if they can't get one (or likely more) with Chase and Jett then they really will have to start asking some tough questions.

Certainly had their share of bad luck, still a shame Trey Canard never caught a break.

Entering year 20 of no SX title. Sad.

I’d be just fine if Honda never won another big bike championship. The arrogance  of Honda Corporate in Japan has been nothing short of detrimental to the sport of SX and MX since the mid-late 90’s.

Seems we say this every year about Honda. From the start of AMA MX/SX they won almost every year in the Big Boy class, since RC put the mojo on them......nada.

Is this not year 20 since their last SX title?

Things from 2003:

Kawi and Suzuki didn’t make a 4-Stroke. Yamaha was the only brand with a 250F.

Seabiscuit was in theaters

the Da Vinci Code (the book, not the movie) was released

Metallica released St. Anger

Jett was not yet born (August, 2 weeks after KDub beat RC at Shoug)…Hunter was 4.

The Space Shuttle Columbia disaster happened in February

20 years is a long time, man

"Jett was not yet born"

That really puts it into perspective. The powerhouse of the 80's and 90's hasn't won a 450 title in Jett's lifetime. WOW!!!!

Side Note: I doubt the Carmichael Curse theory. I think it goes back further, it's the McGrath Curse, RC was just so damn good he could overcome it. Between MC and RC Honda didn't do squat.

To be fair, they did win the outdoor title in 04..when Jett was 1

Left out a pretty significant non-moto event. Was that on purpose? Laughing

Still anyone who was around would have bet their house that the drought wouldn't be that long.

Back in the day Honda could take someone who was just a guy (Jeff Stanton) and turn him into one of the all-time greats. He may have got there anyway but The Big Red Machine was a star maker for sure. None of us even D14 guys like me expected that.

You would think with Roczen the last few years and now Sexton (soon Jett) it would be a forgone conclusion.......but here we are still. Shocked

Nice Broc Glover reference today at IronMan.........will Sexton break the curse?

"Curse of the Goat, Curse of the Bambino". Cool

Sexton put in a valent effort in the 2022 MX season, but ran up against Tomac and his Yamaha and came up short.

23 SX season starts tomorrow does a Honda rider break the curse this year?

Unfortunately for them, the races are held on dirt, not paper.

The only thing Honda is suffering from is pride. Honda and ownership is super stubborn, prideful, and arrogant. According to an MXA article sometime back, the engineers had to go behind Honda’s back to produce a 2-stroke. Once Honda found out about it, they were extremely angry, but since they other factories had done it, they allowed it. Pride will ruin anything. Why else would they have the most horrendous suspension year after year from the late 80s to the late 00s. They just enjoy lording their authority and dictatorship over all of motorcycle racing to worry too much about winning.

Maybe, but from Marty Smith thru MC2 and RC4, they won a ton of championships.

Hell, they even won 2 AMA championships they did not even produce a bike for.......Shocked

So last week with Sexton we thought it was all over for everyone else but Sexton on his Factory Honda after qualifying and the heat race win..........then the main event happened.

Not convinced on Sexton for SX, but Outdoors I think he finally gets it done.

Not that it is over yet, but Sexton is going to need a ton of help to get the 23 SX Title.

He and Jett must be the odds-on favorites for the 23 MX Title correct?

You might see some orange bikes towards the front outdoors this year. Just throwing it out there.

I'm right on board with you RACERX69, I was pretty much resigned to Honda winning ama outdoors in 23 with Chase and Jett. I figured the only one with any shot of beating them was Ferrandis, but when Eli signed up for outdoors, I  was like YES!
