Does anyone have a better idea than me if this is a latest gen yz250 2 stroke crate motor or one I have to assemble? Any information would be much appreciated.

buy a new OEM cylinder, use an oem base gasket and get a stock pipe. My son's 02 YZ250 is as fast as my 21 now.

Oh, and get the 21 needle for the carburetor.

downvotes? You're just pathetic!

Bro, you didn't answer his question, that's probably why the Bros downvoted you.

Fair enough.

Just thought I'd give him the hot tip to save some money. 🤑

I actually need a whole engine cause I’m buying a roller next week. I might look for a blown motor and rebuild it, but having a factory fresh engine would be nice.

The "KT" in the part number indicates it is a kit, or combination of other part numbers. My guess is that it is a big box full of little parts from which you can assemble an engine.
I don't think Yamaha sells a complete, assembled YZ250 engine.

We're a 3 rider family, so cost always dictates. If cash isn't a problem a new motor would be sweet!

our 02 was just o.k. until we made those changes. Now it's as fast and lighter. It only needs a fork now Smile

good luck

Possibly, how much would he want for it? Email me at tayloranderson201@yahoo.com if you could.

Honestly I thought Yamaha has been selling complete motors since the 80's. Never bought one but mini sprints were using yz 250 motors in the mid 80's.

Labor/assembly cost makes a crate motor prohibitively expensive. Buying a kit like that would make a good winter project though
