No more track maintenance.

From the start of the night program, no more track repair. We tested triple crowns, let's test this. The racing is so much better the faster a track blows out. Also, eliminate SO much wasted time from the program and make the broadcast a reasonable length.

Outdoors, sure. Indoors, the event is running on plywood.

I love the close racing as much as you do, but tracks breaking down make it much more dangerous for the riders. Some riders crash when the tracks are nearly perfect, and they would also complain about that. Have you seen the track at the end of a 450 main?

Exactly the point. Make the lesser skilled riders slow down. Equally simple to ride faster than your skill allows on a groomed track or a turd.

Can I come live in whatever world you live in where cost doesn't factor into anything? That place sounds fun!

Only maintenance I am for is eliminating ruts on the faces of jumps before every race. I feel this way for both SX and MX especially considering how big the jumps are now.

A blown out track doesn’t always make the racing better

Sometimes it actually makes it worse when everyone is using the same line

If they could fix the track prep so it doesn't break down as bad, sure, leave it alone. But Dirt Wurx somehow hasn't made tracks the same as the 90's-00's when tracks didn't rut up as bad as they do now. But also...450's exist.

I wouldnt say no track maintenance but limit it to where its really needed. An example is where the ruts are on the plywood. Thats not safe at all.

Sounds like you have an open checkbook ready to pay for this? You can argue till the cows come home that Feld can afford it, but you know they will pass that on to the spectators, or pull the money from the riders. . . Fantasyland you're living in. Also, nice first 15 posts idiot.

You’re just going to get more guys hurt and then complain when the field is thin, plus the racing is not always better when the track is blown out. If you have nothing but ruts in every berm it’s harder to pass than it is if you can just go wherever you want

I am not so sure any of them run on plywood anymore.

They started using huge sheets of thick plastic back in the 90s.

And the shouldn't use anything if they are on concrete in the domes

For the OP, watch this, too. Simply need to double or triple the manhours of that crew and high-dollar venue rental time. Boo hoo, indeed.

Damn look at that thick plastic made to look just like plywood. That guy said it with such confidence too all the way back to the 90s. Where do people come up with shit like this?

Indoor tracks break down because they're temporary. They don't have years to form up.
They need the work

I do have to admit that I am surprised they haven't come up with some form of removable base they can just cover with dirt and clay. Like some form of semi-circle concrete hard plastic/composite to form the base of the whoops. Just lay out a dozen or so, cover with tons of dirt, pack, scoop up and stack afterwards.

Be way more consistent and break down less. I think.

No idea if possible, just some of the crazy ideas I have from time to time...

Well,

I was there when they started using it in the 90s.

It was a dirt contractor from Orlando named earl Loeffler(sp?) that brought it in right after dirtwurks was formed.

It was cheaper, more durable, and easier to ship.

Guess I haven't kept up with it as much since so I was absolutely incorrect as to what they are using now and don't spend a lot of time watching track build videos.

But holy cow, with lumber prices being what they are, they sure must have upped feld's home Depot card credit limit

Feld loads it in and out per event.

It's all part of the circus train that comes to town between SX and Monster Jam

I don’t want a shorter broadcast. It’s the best three hours of my whole week where everyone shuts up and leaves dad alone! Laughing

That's a pretty idiot take....seriously. The sport is struggling to afford enough dirt as it is. You're either trolling or not very smart.
