He doesn't have a work bench - the bare frame and engine are laying in his bed in the pool of transmission oil that he forgot to drain. He’s been sleeping on the floor in a sleeping bag atop a pile of packing peanuts, and crushed eBay, Motosport, and RMATV boxes for weeks. His blood brothers all left a long time ago after they caught him skimming money from the meth-fund to fuel his Offerup addiction. They’d been telling him the bike is only worth $1200, but he knew once he put $10k into it he’d be able to sell it for at least $7k. Foolproof.
He thinks to himself "People will understand once this '04 is fully restored. They'll understand my vision" as he scrolls though this DV934 guy's insta. He takes another puff off his vape and sticks a Red Bull Racing Team sticker on the silencer. "Shit" he mutters as he realizes he stuck the sticker on the bottom of the silencer by accident. Fuck it, I'll just paint the pipe Rustoleum Red someday anyway. Red is the fastest color.
After months of carefully collecting hose clamps and boost clamp from the side of the road to hold the Summit Racing heat wrap on his rusty dented header he snaps a pic with both of his engines for the cover of his soon-to-be-relased SoundCloud rap album. All his non-blood brothers tell him he has sick beats. Total fire.
The bike is finally complete as he pawns off the last of his few mis-matched Pittsburg wrenches to put a down payment on a pallet of Champion spark plugs. He fires the bike up in his bedroom. Smoke is pouring out the windows as the bike pops, sputters, and bogs. “Can’t wait to rip my 125 at Glamis, I bet it does wheelies in every gear” he thinks to himself as all the smoke alarms blare in the house and the unburnt 2-stroke oil splatters all over the sheetrock.
He pulls the clutch in with all 4 fingers, clicks it into gear, and realizes he lives on a 4th story apartment with walk-up only access and a door too narrow for his bars to pass through. Looks like the land lord might keep his security deposit after he takes out the door frame and a few studs.
20 minutes later its up on Offerup. “hasn’t left my room” he types, wishing he remembered when his 6th grade English teacher told him to use the period key.
