I ask this because I am here in the near future (a month or so) looking to buy a 2021 YZ250F. However, most of my dealerships have sold what bike they gotten fairly quickly. Do dealers get more bikes as time goes on or do they get a certain at the very begininng and thats it?

They get more throughout the year all the way up till they can get the next model year, for the most part. This is a weird year, there may be more of a gap between their first shipment and their second. Call you local dealership, they most likely have approximate shipment dates on the next batch they have coming in.

pre or post covid? i would expect there to be more stock than the past few months but more than likely a full recovery not until 22... just what i would expect. If i were you I would go in and put some cash down so they know you are serious and get on the list and be prepared to pull the trigger when it arrives!

Okay, I thought that was the case. I am trying to sell my current bike before I am able to pick up the 21.

I hope the COVID bike prices start going back to more normal prices.

Maybe times have changed but they used to get their full allotment by spring. Anytime I ever asked about more coming they said no.

They will continue to receive bikes throughout the year, but I know for a fact that demand is far outpacing production this year, and Yamaha cancelled a huge number of dealer orders already. If you’re serious about getting a new 2021, I’d get some money down on something sooner rather than later.

More yz250f’s are coming.
As said above, a deposit with your dealer Is a very good idea.

The up side is that used bikes are selling quickly and for top dollar. So you are able to not only quickly sell your current bike you can get good money for it, works both ways.

Alright, deposit as soon as possible! I know production has been a struggle for most manufactures.
12/25/2020 10:43am
The deposit is refundable so just call tomorrow to get your place marker. If you aren't able to sell your bike before your dealer receives new units, you can always back out.

Normally not the most ethical plan but in this market the dealer will be able to sell the bike easily.

I paid the exact same price for my '21 regardless of covid. I guess that means my dealer didn't cornhole me.

Same here. My brother is a Kaw/Polaris/TM dealer and his prices are pretty normal.
Not all dealers are jacking up prices.

I worked as a salesmen at my local shop this past summer. They will continue to get them if they so choose. My shop had all four japanese brands, the only exception to this is Works Edition bikes in normal years (we were only allotted 2 per year). This past summer there were times where we were simply not able to get bikes.

Not too terribly far away, but I have had no experience with Nash in Auburn. I suppose I can give them a call and see what they are willing to do. Im not going to pay more than $10K for a new bike. There is one in Oregon about 2.5 hours away that their online price listed is what they are charging (ive bought from them before and like them). They only have 1 left that is the Monster Energy Edition. $9500. I really don't want to miss a window of opportunity, I am starting to dislike my 19 250R. Ive been on the ground hard too many times, all rider error of course but just want something different. Love my brothers 19 yz250f. I just gotta remember, I don't NEED a new toy lol

I bought a '21 KTM 125 in September. He had gotten 3 in and sold all. He told me that was all he was getting for year! In order for him to get more, he has to wheel and deal other KTM bikes from his stock to other dealers in order to get the sizes that sell.. He said it was a huge PITA. This was specific to KTM. FWIW....

Guys say they wont pay over 10,000 for a new bike, ive even talked to riders who will say they will NEVER ever buy a new bike they think buying a used 2007 is so much smarter. At the same time these people are bragging about paying 15K markup over retail for the ford Craptor they just bought, because theyre in demand. I guess it depends on how much you love motorcycles.

KTM oversold their 125s this year. Lots of pissed off dealers.

I recomend Nash in Auburn. I do biz with their dealer in phoenix. They even bought my graphics for my ktm. The owner is a real enthusiast/racer and they take you seriously. It's tough to get a deal right now so I get it. I got a left over 20' KTM when they had about three left and made me a deal about a thousand better than anybody else plus help me out on parts when I race. I know of the GM in auburn and have heard good things.

I worked for a dealer in the past, usually mid spring was the last large shipment of bikes from the current model year. some models could be specially ordered usually takes a while, or we could get a specific model from another dealer. you could always check with your local dealer, or contact a few through out the country and have it shipped in.

This whole mess has been crazy. Our local dealership show room floor is almost empty. Usually the new models would be out by September latest..... people are still waiting for 21s.

It looks like Im going to take my bike money, the measly $600 stim check, and my tax return and go get a bike as soon as I can. Whenever I get my tax return, ill make my move whether its selling the bike at a huge loss or trading it in (its the same that way lol). I really dont want to ride this Honda for another year lol

My local dealer told me that in addition to canceling a bunch of his YZ orders, Yamaha pushed the delivery date of a bunch of his order back to June, so it looks like there might be more coming in, but not until later in the year. Sounds like Yamaha let dealers know how many they’re getting and a schedule for when they are arriving. Talk to your local dealer to verify this.

Called 2 dealers, they both said they will be getting more. One said early Spring and another said Jan/Feb. One salesman said they will go for MSRP and all the fees and what not since they go pretty quick. The Nash salesman told me even he could waive the $200 on the ME edition but that was the best he could do. Solid guy
