My name is Brook and I own a 2013 Honda CRF250 and 2016 Honda Rebel 500. I've known how to ride a motorcycle ever since I was in my teens but I only bought my own bike in 2014. I've been planning to join amateur off-road competitions but I was diagnosed with hyperacusis(noise sensitivity) and tinnitus last year. I wanted to buy hearing protection/earplugs but I can't decide what to get. I tried generic foam plugs but they hurt my ears. What type or what brand do you recommend for daily commute and competition use?

Thanks and ride safely!

Best comfort but slightly less effective for me:
https://www.hearos.com/products/xtreme-protection-series

Best protection but slightly less comfortable (I wear these when riding normally) :
https://www.moldex.com/product/pura-fit/

Both can be found on Amazon along with hundreds of other types. I liked the moldex ones enough to buy the megapack that lasts for years.

The moldex ones look comfy. Will surely try those. I just hope they fit my ears.

I use Hearos. They are soft and fluffy.

What can you say about custom earplugs company like this one call Big Ear Inc? Planning to check their store out since they're just 30-45 mins away from my location. They also have some informative videos on youtube. Will just look for options but still not decided if I'll buy one from them.

How much are you looking to spend on earplugs? I ask as we have custom molded earplugs for our job(trackside Indycar) but I also use them for MX and on street use. They come with 30dB filters for volume reduction and soldi stops for serious noise levels.

Dawn @ Ear Everything in Indianapolis does them, but travels to most events too

Taking notes... Ever since my bad concussion I am super sensitive to noise and have tinnitus as well. I like the idea of those Ear Everything ones, also these seem to have great reviews. 31db reduction https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WIXL4UM/ref=sspa_dk_crr_aax_0?psc=1 Expensive, but not really if it protects and does the job, I just don't like the idea of plastic being in there.

I picked up some mold-able Radians ear plugs for riding. NRR of 26, they're cheap and easy to use. I found that riding with the ear plugs is much more comfortable than without. Given my already heavily deteriorated hearing abilities, my wife appreciates it not getting worse.
