This year I hope to line up next to Tim Gajser. He's riding Slovenian national championship, my goal would be to get lapped just once. There have been 3 races already he won them all offcourse. In Slovenia we have just one national and one amateur class separated for 450s and 250s, and national 125 class.

Kreg Bigelow. I've managed to beat two of his brothers a few times over the years. I've led him for a couple of laps but I just couldn't keep him behind me to the checkered flag. The last time I led him for any length of time was a couple years ago (the last time I raced) at Baja Acres. he started inside of me and had me by half a bike coming into the first turn. I noticed that he had a tendency to go in a little deep so just as we got to the turn I got out of the throttle and let him go. I immediately hung a hard flat track style left and took off with nothing but clear track in front of me lol. He didn't let me pull that in the second moto Wink

He usually puts over 1 minute lead over second, max 3-5 guys on the same lap, and unfortunately not much more on the gate.

Kyle Lewis and Mouse McCoy. They made me learn early on I'd never make it as a racer.

That was the first name that I thought of. I don't even remember Mikey ever crashing so that made the task even harder. Might have got him at a hare scramble and at a flat track race on 50's once. Other than that I had nothing.

Mouse McCoy...there's a name I hadn't heard in a long time. I used to get smoked by Larry Ward back in the 80's at SIR on my '82 RM80.

In 2005 Willard was in the Carolinas for some reason, we were doing a race at Sand Hill MX (its the track you'll see at the entrance of Club MX). I was riding my practice that morning and I heard this insane shriek behind me and I looked over and he was like an Orange Blur going by. Basically everyone was on a 250F/450 at this point so that noise just stuck out. I kind of got rattled for a second like "WTF is this???"

I've been lucky enough to practice with a lot of top hard enduro/endurocross guys. Taddy Blazusiak is the one guy who made me feel like I should really just quit. He had the perfect combination of trials bike technical skills and that aggression you only learn racing motocross. At the time I only had the motocross part down haha. Other than that, Darian Sanayei used to kick my ass all the time as a kid. I used to think I was sooooo fast until he showed up at the races!

Ron ",wirehead" jones.

Muddy creek in the early 80,s was not ama. You just had to see him ride, barrel chested ox of a guy.

He ran away from Hannah at the sand track the Carolina spring series used, can't think of the name right now. No pros would come to muddy creek because of him. If he got a bad start he'd run over everybody just for fun. I beat him one day straight up me on 85 ktm 500,,him on cr 500. Scared like hell thinking he was right on me I kept it pinned and won with a good gap. Only time.

His brother was a dirty rider like you just don't see .hated that guy.

Good times.
I raced against Ron when I was in 30 plus in the Carolina's. I'm pretty sure I never beat him. He and his brother could carry stuff off the track if I remember correctly..thankfully they like me.

Was he on 125 or 250 2 stroke?

Funny. I had alot of 2nds behind him in collegeboy. I did beat him at one arenacross though!

I'm sure there's more for me but Willard stood out from my arenacross days.

I also remember when I was 14 at Loretta's in 250C (2stroke days), had some bad luck in Moto 2 but through the next couple am nat races a kid (kid now but he was older than me by a few years. I believe I was the youngest there that year on a 250 2 stroke) Name was NJ Huntsinger. I may have gotten him a Moto or two at the mini os but never stole a championship.

I’ve only really done pit bike racing in my neck of the woods, so nothing serious, but here’s my story anyways.

When I started riding, I was really really slow. Big bikes, small, it didn’t matter. I was barely moving. Anyways, had a buddy that talked A LOT of shit about my speed. I could never keep up with him, didn’t hit the same jumps, etc. Well a few years have passed and we ended up at the same track last weekend and sure enough I pulled out behind him to see really how slow I was.. kept with him for 5-6 laps and finally made a pass and took his ass so wide I think he went off the track. That was a good feeling.

Man, racing is cool.

Ryan Mills when I started racing in D34 / Southern NY. So fast. Then that Barcia kid not long after that.

I started racing in 99 and was in Schoolboy class in 2000 so we were on the gate at the same time a number of times when Ryan showed up at the local races; given that he can literally run laps around me.

I remember one race at the old Diamondback in 2000?, he was about to put me a lap down so I moved over to the far right side of a triple step up jump when I heard his screaming 125. And guess where he jumped....right side of me! There wasn’t much race track for him to land where he landed. He probably wasn’t happy but damn it was close and flew on for the win. He was the first real fast guy at the track I ever saw in person. I knew I needed some work after seeing his raw speed. It was fun to catch up later on when I picked up a camera and saw him more and more. Good guy but a rough road it has been for him.

Keith Watson. Back in the late 70's early 80's, I bet I holeshot 20 motos in a row. He would get up beside me and be totally whiskey throttled, both feet on one side of the bike or over his head and,,, save it every time. It was 1992 before I managed to beat him.
Keith went on to race some nationals. At Axton one year, he got a good start and held off JohnnyO for a couple of laps. He was so out of control, Johnny was clearly scared to get close enough to him to try to pass. He was waiting on him to pile up somewhere. Finally, Keith missed a turn. Johnny looked over at him, I guess to watch the carnage but, he saved it again. I cheered for him every lap!

Ben Riddle, Jacob Saylor and Kevin Walker when I lived in Kentucky. I now race the 30+ class and 45+ class in NC. There isn’t anyone hear that I haven’t been able to cover down here. I race a 250F and I’m the only one who does so in either class. I get pulled a little on the start, but I know this will happen so, I get the best starts I can and just hold it on longer.

Pete passed away didn't he? I can't remember if it was Phil Oveland (spelling) or my pal Danny Palidino (again not sure on spelling) that was good friends with him.

Around Houston back in the 70's...lots of them.

Robert Tuggle & most of the H&H Music Racing Team
Jeff Dement
Don Rainey
Steve Stackable (before he went pro)
Kent Howerton (")

I got my butt handed to me by those guys and more regularly. It wasn't that I was so slow...because I wasn't. It was more that those guys were so damned fast.

Dude you must have some skill to be in the company of the guys you named! Have you raced Allen Alford or Ben Graves since you've been in NC? Ben has been riding a 250F for a bit now, he's pretty damn fast.

I have a buddy that beat Ben Riddle back in the day in 125B at Camp Coker. I don't think it was the Loretta's regional but it possibly could have been.
