Blatantly ignoring the rules is no excuse for someone calling you out in an interview....whether or not the comment said in the interview is right or wrong (in your view).

If you are pissed at someone on the track you beat them, if you cant you dont go making it difficult for them to win when you cant.

Does every single rule have to perfectly specify each specific instance of what might occur on the track? Or are we smart enough as a society to interpret these rules with common sense? It's absolutely impossible to cover every little thing that could happen in any sport.

Im a reed fan but i cant even defend what he did. It felt wrong and it was wrong. Personally it would have been a nice move if dungey was all smiles saying "reed worked hard for that 16th place and he deserved to fight for it like all of us fighting for positions." Cause that is the real issue here...reeds frustration.

Again im a reed fan. And it sucks to see that he has these flashes of speed and im sure he feels game, but the consistancy is shot. Is this how he really wants to go out? Bitter, a few great rides, a whole lotta crappy ones? Lashing out at people like dungey??

I missed the Dungey's interview after the heat race. What exactly did he say when he called Reed immature?
ATKpilot99 wrote:

In the interview RD said Reed was coming over on his in the whoops trying to take his front wheel out, and trying to punt him off the track in other places.

See the interview for exact words, but Reed is no angel in this -

no one has ever accused Dungey of being dirty.

Reed, on the other hand, has history of doing these kind of things.

Because you're not worth my time to explain it to. Any coherent person should understand what I'm saying based on my first post.

2. Don't piss off Reed.
3. Dont' choke a 27 point lead.

Side note: 8-9? wins to two wins. Unless Eli breaks his arm and Dungey is handed another title. He knows damn well Chad Reed in St.Louis wasn't the reason he lost/choked.

At least Chad's riding didn't cost Dungey the title!
Imagine how many pages/threads for the Russian's " gang raping!" poor Jaroslav Falta out on his 250cc World title in 1974.
Even after they couldn't knock him off track, they persuaded the Austrian FIM jury man to exclude Falta for aledged jumping the start gate!
What's to stop say the fastest rider in a race, crashing in first corner, going a lap down. Is he not then allowed to unlap himself as he charges back through the field?

Lapped or not. Make the pass if you are faster! It's what racing is about isn't it? I'm sorry you got sand in your vag about Dunge but it was a race move for Reed, Dunge and The AMA. One of those people was in direct control of the situation and didn't pull the trigger. Figure that one out, smart guy...

Chad is nothing more than the adult version of the crying, whining 5 year-old in the grocery checkout line. Always has been, always will be. He may be tough, he may have a place in MX history, but he's a whiny child. OTOH, Dungey has allowed himself to be a punching bag through numerous rivals without ever laying down the law. Most front-runners throughout history (Johnson, Ward, RC, RV, certainly Bradshaw) would've put up with Reed's crap for exactly two corners before punting him over a berm. Dungey can't open his mouth and talk smack because it's all talk.

For the record, I have a ton of respect for Dungey and his accomplishments. I like the fact that he's a clean-cut guy that parents wouldn't have an issue with their kid looking up to. That said, even good people need to stick up for themselves and sometimes that requires getting your knuckles dirty.

My take...what happens if he tries to force a pass and he goes down losing way more than 3 points in the process?? Then you assholes would be saying "that's what he gets for trying to play the game with Reed" its a lose, lose situation. It was OBVIOUS to anyone who knows anything about racing that Dungey was faster based on the fact that he completed an extra lap to Reed. It's common fucking sense. Its also common sense when you look at the lap times, Reed stepped up his pace when Dungey caught him.

Bottom line...we will never know if Dungey would've caught Tomac because some prima-donna cocksucker got his panties in a bunch over what was done or not done the week before and what was said during an interview. Reed is an also-ran, its time to hang em up.

Tomac got around him fine.... Ohhh but wait, maybe the track was too bumpy, or too rutted to be safe for Dungey or some other lame ass excuse we hear every single weekend. Damn I miss Villopoto.

Kkawboy14, in every riders meeting I've attended, especially Supercross, they discuss the Blue flags. They tell you to be well aware of what's going on around you and know where the leaders are towards the end of the race so you can adjust your lines off the main racing line. If you are lapped sooner than you expect, they want you to hold your line until you can move off of the main racing line as soon as possible but don't endanger yourself or the faster riders by making abrupt changes. Again, every single riders meeting!

We will never know? But we do know! Dungey pulled the holeshot and had a clear track. The only one responsible for us not seeing a Tomac/Dungey battle,is Dungey. Oh,and maybe Tomac

That's my point exactly! we can "what if" this shit to death or we can not place blame on anyone for ruining Dunge's chance at racing Tomac for the win other than Dunge himself. Sucks that Reed did what he did but ultimately Dunge is the only one responsible for Dunge's result. Let's not forget it's a fuggin race and to win you have to position yourself for it in any and every way possible and waiting for people to pull over isn't one of them!

the question is whether or not Reed played the same game with Tomac that he did with Dungey.

My gues is that he moved out of the racing line, per the rules for, Tomac. Would sure love to see video as ET approached the lapper and passed to see what happened.

Finally..... Dungey had his opportunity with the holeshot. Didnt capitalize. Tomac passed him. Dungey had 10+ laps to reel him in and didnt do it. If he wanted the win, he shouldnt have given up the lead after a fucking holeshot.

I'm curious to see how many times you can say the same thing over and over.

I think we are up to like 7 or 8 times so far in 2 threads. Let's see if we can get to 10 before the day is done........

Agree. I posted something similar in another thread. This is what happens when once great athletes hang on for too long. The downfall is ugly. He's frustrated, he's bitter. He should have retired before starting up his own 22 team. Would have saved himself a lot of money too. He can still have flashes sure, but he will never regain what he once was. He can keep chasing it all he wants. But it's been gone for awhile. Can be hard to let go...

It wasn't like they missed it, not like AMA guy was sleeping, it was a long time he was stuck behind him.

The bottom line is that it was Chad Freaking Reed, and by going three laps and ignoring the blue flags that the flagmen were waving, he basically flipped the AMA off showing he didn't give a damn. By the AMA not nutting up and giving him some kind of reprimand they are showing huge favoritism, and showing to everybody that they're not going to uphold the rules they set...if you are in the select few.

Omg man. Are you seriously thinking that your way of thinking is legit? Peeps on this site should not be allowed if they are under 18. Why are you on here?

You obviously don't race pro in closed course competition. The rules are there because anslower rider can keep a faster rider behind them even IF they are faster. This isn't your local track that always has at least 2 lines in every corner. Once you get a blue flag you MUST let the faster guy by. You DO NOT have a choice.

The crowd wants to see the top two race against each other. Not a lapped and the champ.

I've respected chad for a along time since I'm 45 and have met him many times being a former supercross and national professional photographer and writer for this sport. I never made it to supercross only arenacross as a rider and failed to be good enough to compete by the time I tried the BooKoo series a while back at age 37:-) lol!!! It was embarrassing to say the least.

Your comments are ridiculous which is why most aren't replying to what you say.

I never made it to the big leagues but I tried hard. And yeah I do know about blue flags because I've been the slowest guy on the track before that gets those blue flags.
4/6/2017 10:39am
One of the reasons the blue flags are so important Supercross is because the difference between the top 10 guys is only a couple seconds per lap and sometimes less. So even though Dungee is only a little bit faster than REEd , reed still has to respect that. And it changed what we all want to see which is great racing between not only the leaders but the other groups of slower riders that are the same speed as each other. Both on TV and for the local spectators that showed up for the race.

Post a reply to: Press Conference - Ryan Dungey "If you're a lapper you've got to move over."
