Yz250 restyle kit installation

Edited Date/Time 5/3/2016 3:39am
Just received my race tech re-style kit for my 2005 yz250. Now Iv checked most of it and seems to fit alright just unsure in how to do the front number board and airbox restyle as no instructions.

Has any one done this to there bike and can you give me any pointers or advice to where I can get the info I'm looking for?

Never used a forum before so hoping some one can help.

Cheers in advance

Airbox you have to drill out the old rivets that hold the sides and then rivet the new sides on. This was the hardest part, after drilling thru i had to use a vise grip to get the old rivet out. For front number plate i pushed it tight against tripple clamps and drilled a hole on each side of the bottom and zip tyed it to the tripple clamp "bottom"

For the air box, I used a high rpm drill that spun the rivet so fast it melted through the plastic. I then got stainless allen bolts to put the new pieces on. I prefer bolts vs rivets. Its extremely easy to do. For the front number plate I had to use a drilled washer as the bolt for my BOLT kit was too long without the washer.

Good looking bike, Nate! I like the idea of using stainless allen bolts to put the new pieces on. I realized while drilling mine that it was melting the plastic, so I slowed my drill speed way down and then used an awl to break off the heads once I had drilled them enough to allow them to break. I wish I had thought of the stainless allen bolt thing. I used the rivets supplied with the kit.

Cheers Nate. If u don't mind me asking what size of bolts r they. And did u use locking nuts?

Yes they are locking nuts and I don't know the exact size. I matched the thickness to the rivets from rtech. I've did several tracks with no problems.
