He still sounds a little baked or something.
I hope the best for him and would love to see him race more. He's a great talent and awesome to watch race.
Maybe He doesn't deal well with the pressure of racing and that led to other issues and He is realizing the path He is possibly headed down.
My only wish for the guy is to stay clean and sober and have a decent productive life.
I hope he can lead a good life and would love to see him up here in Canada to race the nationals if that's what he wants.
Best of luck to him. Everybody at Vital is pulling for him.
However, after listening to the interview, everyone is saying that they feel that Austin isn't giving the full story, and I agree.
Since Austin has come back, I don't think he has publicly announced what drove him away from the sport to begin with. The vast majority believe it was addiction.
With that being said, I would be curious if him getting that Husky ride wasn't putting him into a similar situation that got him involved with drugs in the first place.
Being clean and sober involves being fairly low-key. Get up, go to work, come home, go to bed, start over. Live modestly.
For a recovering addict (once again, not saying definitively he was) to be thrust back into the lime light, which includes money, stress, and expectations, he may have decided that that was setting him up for future failure. Just my 2 cents
Regardless if I am spot on our totally off, I wish Austin the best.
