Best way to protect frame rails

Edited Date/Time 4/10/2014 6:16pm
Trying to find a way to protect the paint on the frame rails from getting worn down by boots (mostly for looks to keep the frame looking fresh but also to help protect against rust). I have seen those Lightspeed carbon fiber frame guards but they're expensive and I wonder about grit getting in between and rubbing the paint of anyways.

As an alternative I have found some stuff called StompGrip http://www.stompgrip.com/all-purpose-kit-volcano-frame-rails-33-10-0002…. Has anybody used this stuff? How durable is it?

Any other ideas for protecting the paint on the frame?

I'm sure Home Depot or lowes has some different types of grip you could use. Specifically a kind with strong adhesive that would be typically used on stairs or something of that nature.

Tried some clear stuff that's supposed to protect hardwood stairs already and it wore off really quick

Lowes has it by the roll, works pretty well, in the hardware section with other tape type items.

TechSpec Snakeskin. Won't harm boots, gives great grip, sticks good, and lasts for years. Comes in sheets you can cut to fit any shape desired.
