I just linked him to this thread, he posts here sometimes. Maybe he'll chime in. He has a Bayle replica 500 too, I think.

Well man, the combustion chamber is a removable insert, so that you can run multiple chamber profiles for different fuel types, ect. They are o-ringed. The coolant passages are bigger. plug location is optimized (on models that have a shitty plug location)

They're more than just an anodized aluminum part, if that's what you're asking.

Speaking of o-ringed, I was a little surprised when I took my cylinder head off and saw that metal gasket piece. What's the deal with that, is there a mod that most guys put on there in place of that?

yes, it's called an o-ring. any shop that is capable of re-machining a combustion chamber can machine an o-ring groove and supply you with an o-ring that fits. You just have to make sure your squish is set right when you are done. You're taking whatever the thickness of your HG is, and tossing it out.

KTMs have had o-ringed heads since the 90s.

I know what an o-ring is, this is just the first bike I've had that didn't have one. Whenever I was watching how-to vids while changing out my top end all the cylinder heads were o-ringed. Just wondering..

@Sunhouse, that Husky and Pro Grip gear did look good, but I know one of the guys here who had a factory Husky ride, and that bike was a turd, and ended his career.

But I think the factory bikes were pretty good, Chioddi won 2 championships on basically the same bike as the one above

Bradshaw and the wr500,.....was pretty amazing how fast he could go on a bike that was not near what the competition at the time had. ...

The 1982 Honda RC250's may have been the most advanced motocross bikes for their time period ever. It and this 1983 Yamaha OW125 are probably my two favorite factory bikes ever. That rotary valved engine amazed me. One is Lechiens, the others is Jacky Vimonds.

That rotary valve 125 looks so trick
That is awesome.

Does anyone know what kind of head that is?
Didn't see the other post.

Ya, looks to be a VHM head. Bud Racing also has some insane cylinder heads.
