The AMA could learn from the X games,Just look at the TV time X games had, Hell we get a 60 minute tv show for each class,With about 30 minutes of that being actual racing.
Wow!! If SPEED actually televised a live event ( a whole event ) it would cut into their 4 hours of Unique Whips or their other 4 hours of PINKS.

Thanks for the pics Homey!

I bet the X Games meant something to Bo. I thought he was going to beat Ricky James in the main. Bo is fast!! He's really cool too. Ricky was pretty excited about X as well. He really wanted to step it up and bust out bigger doubles but he did the smart thing and rhode within his limits.

As a racer in many different professional series and events, I have never been treated so well by the staff.

Oh, and don't mess with Sondra! She knows everybody, and deserves respect for what she (and her family) has done for the sport of motocross. I think it's super cool to have some well connected people on here who don't spin facts, slo-pro comes to mind pretty quickly. If some of you keep pushing buttons, those people will stop posting and then we all lose.

Then again, what do I know...I have a low post count. Smile
Hey man, i don't know you and have never met you, but what you guys all did out there was really special. People on this board may not always agree with each other. I think we can all agree what all you guys did that day was really bad ass!! Congrats!!!
I have a bunch of pictures from that event I will put up sometime soon.....

Damn that pic needs to be bigger to do it justice...

Seriously, I am tired of reading what everyone writes concerning the X games (I know, stop reading it) but they are not the savior of the sport. They have not overtaken the Nationals in prestige. And how can anyone say the event is prestigious when Hansen comes in first with an old retired guy finishing second (not even THAT retired guy)? No disrespect for any of the racers out there but this isn't even close to the Nationals or World championships in terms of competition, star power and prestige. And regarding TV coverage, pretty easy to get your event aired and re-aired on TV when you own the networks (ABC, ESPN, ESPN2). I'm all for the sport growing and different venues and promoters coming up to carry the sport further but X Games isn't there yet.

We can learn from the X Games though. They put together a package that is slick, well produced and easily marketable. They get into the personal lives of the competitors and you begin to feel for and relate to these athletes. There is a story line there that people can grab hold of. You can't hide the stars of the show behind helmets and goggles all the time.

But come on, while it is a cool event, the X Games are not a prestigious event as far as our sport is concerned.
I can make it happen. Does it really have to be a sock ? A dirty sock ?

That means I have to get a long stick, or something.

No it doesn't have to be a sock. I was just joking with her, and she said she wanted him to sign something for her. So I suggested a dirty sock, and she said ok. It was kind of the running joke of the day at X Games. So anything you can get that he has touched or worn, would make a 14.5 year old girl still think her dad is cool. lol

Few know who I am, or what I have accomplished, who has raced my bikes, and who has sat on my couch.

That's why I can come here, and be myself, and care little for some of the comments. I don't scare easy...Big, and ugly, has it's benefits !

I have never met Sondra, but I have met her father, and brother...I know the Peters family, have been a fixture of Motocross for many, many, years.

basically those amputee and paralyzed dudes are nucking futs...in a nutshell.

take a normal scooter racer that is already a crazy wacko and double that...that's how nuts these guys are and I applaud them. what a rush it must have been to race in front of all the people watching live and on tv or both.

Really, what she and her family have done for the sport, huh. So exactly what has she done for the sport of MX in my area. Why should I respect anything she has done for the sport that would have affected me in say the last 15 years. Fill me in and maybe I'll owe an apology.
Exactly the ignorant response I expected. What has she done for me, me, me.

I don't have the time to go into it. If you have ever won contingency from a motorcycle manufacturer, which I doubt, Sondra (and her family) are partly responsible. That's just one. The list is long.

Thanks Trip, Bobby, and all the rest! The track was hard and intimidating for me; I can't imagine what some of the para guys felt like. I kept telling them, if you're gonna try something that might get you hurt, do it in front of a crowd during the race! No sense coming this far to get hurt in practice!

Ricky and Bo were doing some doubles that I wouldn't want to seat bounce. I tried seat bouncing some of them just to walk a mile in their shoes. The one off double here and there was ok...seat bouncing a rythm section is CRAZY!
