Finally the official AX schedule is out, seemingly well abbreviated from previous years - and starting in January in

Taxachusetts.... Anyway, here's the key line that has the entire AX world chatty - and folks are wondering if the changes

are to rev up a dying series - or to test out some potential future rule /format changes for Supercross ?

"Jendro went on to say,” In the near future, a series of major announcements about the format and structure of AMSOIL Arenacross will be made that will significantly impact the sport.”

Below is the 2013 AMSOIL Arenacross schedule:

Date Venue City
Jan. 4-6 DCU Center Worcester, Mass.
Jan. 11-13 1st Mariner Arena Baltimore, Md.
Jan. 18-20 Van Andel Arena Grand Rapids, Mich.
Jan. 26-27 BOK Center Tulsa, Okla.
Feb. 1-3 Cedar Park Center Cedar Park, Texas
Feb. 8-10 Mohegan Sun Arena Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
Feb. 16-17 Verizon Arena Little Rock, Ark.
Feb. 23-24 INTRUST Bank Arena Wichita, Kan.
Mar. 2-3 Sprint Center Kansas City, Mo.
Mar. 15-17 Denver Coliseum Denver, Colo.

The whole structure of the night show is totally different, but I'll let them tell you about it.

Are those policies and format changes solidified and etched in stone - or still in discussion stages ?

The proposed "new" format, as explained to me, is a rather radical departure from AX as normal - and

took a WHOLE lot of explaining, and I was still a mite perplexed and bamboozled...

I'm bummed our OHIO rounds are gone, hell DAYTON sold out every year and the joint was a rockin''....

Seems kinda odd, too, with the majority of the top-ten most years - being BUCKEYES - that we not host a

single round ?

How about scheduling Kansas City the same weekend as St. Louis SX. That was kind of dumb. I don't know anyone that would skip SX to stay back and watch arenacross.

I would totally skip Fart-O-Cross to see Arenacross if it offered the chance to see some real race bikes in action... instead of the industry and Gay-M-A mandated Foopers...

In these luggy and farty times, any series that's not some lame version of it's former self would be very exciting, and provide a great alternative to both FooperCross and Mowercross.

Makes me wonder if they are going to some kind of alternating every other year schedule. I say this because they pretty much had 1 race that was even somewhat close to me last year and this year we have 6

Farthest west they go is Colorado? WTF, Reno always has a pretty awesome track design. It was never the same, almost like a mini supercross track.

Both on I-70 in the SAME STATE!!
What genius thought of this crap?
They trying to show poor attendance for AX the first time in the "new" Sprint Center?
It ain't rocket science, folks!

After my family skipped the DM to attend STL SX two years ago, I am getting madder and madder....

Why is nobody posting about that? The new nonsense rules that's begging you not to win your heat race... or the fact that the first 6 rounds are pointless... you guys heard similar things? I think it's laughable.

I hear that Vince Friese will be switching to the AX circuit this season. He and Bowers going head-to-head? That'd be interesting to watch, for sure.

So what is the format change?

Those of us that aren't in the inner circle are curious.

My money is on Bowers.
I can't believe no Des Moines on an Arenacross schedule. That's just wrong.

I'm perplexed and bamboozled by the entire shenanigans.

RUMOR is that " this is a last chance for the Arenacross series to get in the black..."

The schedule and its omitting of seemingly thriving and lucrative locales - is dumbfounding - fo sho.

Is it true that Bowers will also be contracted to perform the intermission entertainment? Rumor has it he would be cage wrestling a bear for the half time show!! I could've interpreted it wrong & it's possibles that they may have been talking about his father big Tim..

Regardless I bet they both would be up to the task.... Grand Rapids here I come!!

as someone who races AX i think the rule changes will be cool, different and keep riders and fans on their toes the entire season. and the first 6 rounds arent pointless. also as far as the schedule goes you can never make a schedule that has everyone happy . also I think vince friese will learn really fast that being in such a tight track the more you start stuffing and not going forward the race will be over and way ahead of you. AX is about keeping up the momentum and moving forward, you stuff one guy and 3 can pass you. bowers wont even know vince is out on the track.

good point Dave, very true. you doing the tour again? ktm?

to the others asking about the new rules and changes; seeing that they released the schedule last week, I'm sure they will release the rule/program changes this week. It's quite detailed and different and I wouldn't want to say some incorrect things about it as it was only explained to me once.

Good insight, from a racer, agree with it,
As a fan , liked the Fall,,, ie,, nov thru jan schedule better, went to the AX in Nashville, Tn 3-4 times, was always awesome racing, now i live in Georgia and the closest one is in Little Rock Ark. 500 miles away, so no AX for me,, SX and MX for 13'....

hey dave,
yah im doing the series again. buying a ktm on tuesday and heading down south to GPF beg of nov until the season starts will you be at any of them?.
I also liked it better when it started in the fall, gives a little something during the break from MX to SX otherwise AX gets WAY over shadowed for our first round when we are going up against A1. plus when it starts in the fall gives AX guys the option to jump into east sx.
