We could use this at every National

Any local A rider will blow away the WMX riders
Not true. Many years ago I watched a local woman beat half of the local A class. She wasn't nearly as fast as Nico Izzi (also in the same race) but obviously had skills to finish ahead of a dozen men.

That's beside the point. Women are usually shorter, smaller and less strong than men, and women are not as aggressive as men. The same attitudes I hear from a few of the people on Vital are exactly the same as what kept women out of the Olympics for so long. They aren't as good as men, so why should we bother watching or encouraging them?

Couldn't give a flip about feminism, so you come up empty-handed there too.

Most of us love watching & riding motocross. Women are in a class all their own, and I applaud DC and others for including WMX in the national series. Thank you!

I disagree. They already have the MEC and I'd say that is a bit much for 85cc class kids.

don't think thats the issue. lack of depth in the womens = bad racing or lack of excitement. sorry i like Ashley or JP or Geiger....but after them just not exciting.

Other than Dowd, Brown, Renner on the 2-stroke.. who really pays attention to the back of any national MX? Unless someone is moving rapidly through the back of the pack to the front, just about everything behind 10th place is usually not very exciting.

If you want to see excitement then ask for broadcasts of 450 beginner races.

um...guess its personal opinion but i do pay attention to first 20 spots (points) and whos battling for them. I also watch for whos just outside the points and moving up and down. with womens i watch Ashley and JP, Tara will be in 3rd as usual. We had a few little shakeups this year in Womens but thats about it. Best race was the girl from AUS or NZ that won @ hangtown.

i'm still on board with womens 6 rounds, 125cc 6 rounds idea.....something that supports a step tot he pro's.

It's not about being fast, it's about being ENTERTAINING.

WMA is entertaining, maybe your perspective is off a tad. What might make it even more interesting is more purse money and fewer restrictions on what bikes can be used. DC tried to get that ball rolling a couple years ago with allowing 250 smokers, but I guess the AMA didn't like the precedent that might set. Offer more prize cash.. make the girls WANT the win more.. I guess.. pay them to step it up a notch.

But if you're wanting WMA to be competitive the same way the 250f mens classes are, forget it. Stefy Bau came close to qualifying for a SX but other than her, I don't know if anyone has even tried. Women need to be in a separate class.

I'd also love seeing 125s at the nationals, but that seems like a separate issue.. more to do with the AMA sabotaging two-strokes several years ago. Get the rules updated so your 2Ts can compete in the current 250f/450f classes, and that problem is solved without having to add any new races to the series.

I completely support having 6 WMA and 6 125 races at the nationals.

I def think the women deserve their spot on race day, I won't argue there. But like most guys on here I find superminis hauling ass more entertaining and yes, some of those kids have more speed than the women. There's a big gap between Ashley, Jessica, and the rest of the field

women's racing is so boring.....its like watching a local novice race. Now if they were half decent looking it would be a different story . but that wont happen for some reason women in mens sports are usually pretty awful to look at, not all but most. I would love to see a the 85cc class rippers do a 10 lap moto instead for sure. off topic, back in the day at peris raceway a women would race and the back of her leathers said " who needs balls" .....that made me laugh but she still sucked

I think you are wrong. These kids look pretty comfortable on 85s. In a year most of these kids are on 250s on the same track with twice the horsepower.

Those 85cc kids at Matterley GP were awesome. Virtually all of them were tripling into the massive quad jump and the leader even cleared the quad a few times on an 85cc, which most of the MX2 guys outside the top ten weren't attempting.
As Antonio Cairoli said in the press conference, seeing the kids race was great, they are made of foam, if they crash, just bounce and get straight back in there.
All of Team KTM were in the pit lane box, Stefan, riders mechanics etc, cheering on young Jorde Prado Garcia the young 11 year old competing against the 14 year olds in the 85cc class.

Just enjoy the women doing their thing or shut the F up.

We've had 65's 85's 125's womens and Vet's added to the normal meeting and it's turned a race meeting into something special. The "Festival" tag is earned in this case.
did you miss tea time today or what? yer acting like a chick for fuck sakes

So much misogyne in one tread!

Steve Dixon put on a true "festival" of motocross last weekend in Britain and just about everybody who witnessed it loved it. But what I'm picking up here, from a significant proportion of the posters, is not that you wouldn't be interested, but more that you wouldn't want it to happen at all.

It's all a bit sad really..............

Nobody cares if WMX 'happens', it is just that no one is interested in watching it. Not really 'sad', it is just what everyone views as a lunch break between real races.

So I guess what it comes down to is the WMX should only be allowed to race with a helmet, goggles, boots, gloves and nothing else. Unless you're in the kitchen with a laptop.
