My son and I had the local (badass gnarly) practice track all to ourselves one day. In rolls a Ranger pickup with Mom, Dad, teenage son and a couple year old RM125. Kid has all appropriate gear and seems ok. He unloads bike and hits the track. Looks to be a midpack intermediate skill level. Dad, who looks to have or has had a lot of fun with drugs, for a very long time...proceeds to tell me that his son is going to race at the Kansas State Fair and he needs to get aquainted with the new bike. He goes on to tell me how he used to race all the big boys in the 70's and 80's. He knows all the names and tracks but I've already mentally called bullshit. His wife just sits there and nods like..."Yep, I remember when he did this or that". Anyway, the son comes in and dad snags helmet and goggles....no boots or anything else...jumps on bike and proceeds to blow my mind. This guy is the real deal...my son and I have wood from watching this guy own this track he's never even seen before. The wife and son just watch with obvious pride. They finished and left about the same time Bart the track owner rolled up. He asked me who that was in the truck and I said, "Shit man, I forgot to ask his name". I told Bart that even though he looked like a crack head he was amazing on that tiddler. Bart said he didn't know his name but one of the shops had called and asked if and an old midwest ledgend and his kid could ride at his place. All I know is that this one time...my Bullshit-o-meter was way wrong.
Pretty cool story. I suspect that many of these purportedly "bullshit" stories were actually true, or mostly true, just like yours. It is just that everyone is so hung up on meaningless shit such as who knows who or whatever that we all (me included) tend to assume everyone else is full of shit . . . .

either that, or everyone else really IS full of shit. lol

Met a dude at Chicken Licks in '97 that told me he raced in the 1995 SX in Dallas (mud race Henry won I think). Dude was a local C rider.

He had a reputation for telling those kinds of tall tales. I think he was so disconnected from reality that he believed his own bullshit.

JustMX,

You are not bullshitting, for sure. Too bad Kizzar didn't quite make it over that light wire. LOL!!

Kizzar got into so many fights with the other pro's at Tunnel Hill that I cannot remember which of them caused the broken hand. He just went nuts after he turned 16...and racing for money. Was it with Dukes that time when Duke's mom hurdled the fence and bitch-slapped Kenny? That was a sight to see for sure. Or was it when Goose body slammed him at the finish line? Or was it the time when he jumped into me mid-air ? And then his dad took a swipe at my dad. Or was it when he and Tolbert got into that scuffle? Or was it at Candies Creek when we both came to a complete stop in a corner and then pulled a stunt like Ryan did to Lawrence...lifting and then lauching his front wheel into me like a weapon?

Oh, man...I could go on and on about that dude. He was fast as hell at times though. There is no doubting that. Remember the time at Ponca in 1985 when he finished second overall...just behind Lowell Thompson...for the entire, overall 80cc Expert Championship? And that class was stacked! I still have a holeshot pic that came out of a magazine that shows me in second just behind Jay Mann and behind us you could count at least ten guys...or more...that could win that moto. Lowell Thompson, Jeff Emig, Kyle Lewis, Rick Simmett, Scott Brown, Vince DeVane, Sean Dukes and so on.

Haha,

You have hit on your head too many times.

the fight I was talking about was the one that you and he got into right after the finish line at Candies Creek.

It was on a Friday night when his parents ran the track and I was helping them.

We had to stop practice because between your bikes and you two rolling around you had the whole track blocked.

Kenny popped you in your aria mouth piece and the next day at Tunnel Hill his hand was so swollen he couldn't even hang on.

What is he doing now,

School Guidance counselor?

Did he go into the priesthood?

Politician?

Yeah, I was wearing a full-faced Arai helmet at the time and I may have suffered a few concussions like most of us have, but everything I just stated is 100% true. And all those fights occurred at Tunnell Hill except the one I mentioned that happened at Candies Creek. And yes, it happened in the corner following the finish line. Kenny cut the track in the corner before the finish line and stuffed the hell out of me. So I similiarily returned the favor in the following corner...except I didn't cut the track and we came to a complete stop...and then he proceeded to rev his bike up, let go of the clutch and torpedo me with his front wheel....and then the brawl began....just like the RV / Lawrence scenario.

According to Rusty Hogue whom I ran into the other day...Kenny is racing dirt track...cars...doing exceptionally well, but it is still the same ole' bullshit. Trying to get away with cheating, punting guys off the track, etc. High-tech redneck.

I have a "I'sa dumbass" story about Henry you might already know, Mike, but why would I know anyone?

Anyway, I worked with a guy who was 10 years my junior, and he steadily spoke of his military action on the Falklands. If memory serves, that happened in the early eighties...I was in my early 20's. I ain't no mathmagition, but he was one young soldier.

Working at a MX track for the past 15 years, I've heard plenty (I quit saying "I've heard it all") I wonder why posers try to BS guys in the know. Go to the rodeo and BS them.

Just met another one last Friday at our local health club. I noticed his Hangtown T-shirt and we ended up talking moto a bit. I mentioned the SX and Dodger stadium and he said that he was driving down to see the race.

Just saw him again this evening and asked him about the show. Öh, yeah....um...good race." Was about all he could say. He knew that RV won, but couldn't add anything to it. C'mon, anyone who saw that race would have A LOT to say about it.

Why oh why?

- my blue nitrated forks, yes they're stock forks, nothing fancy about them except they look trick as hell.
- i'm friends with SupercrossLIVE announcer Jim Holley, and i've been to his house and got to look at all his world supercross championship trophies and memorabilia.
- I got to hit ramps with Justin Starling at the red bull compound.
- My dad was a supercross team manager in 2006.
- I raced Langtown on 50s.
- I won a Ponca City qualifier in 2007 and almost passed Garret Eckman (I crashed because I hit his back tire coming into a rut)
- I got to play in the foam pit with Travis Pastrana and watch Jim Dechamp practice frontflips into the foam pit, i also met Ronnie Renner, Tennessee, Scott Palmer, and Tarah Gieger that day.
- Ive ridden at Castillo Ranch for the RacerX Ride Day twice.

That's only half of the cool things ive gotton to do, yeah i brag about it sometimes but im never lying!

There's this guy named Davey I know. Says he used to be a KTM 125 Supercross rider and finished top ten at Daytona or something. Then he says that he owns some magazine & talks to the top pros all the time. Ha! Along with all this, he says he "runs" the outdoor motocross series, as if.

Some people.

Holy Shit, I had one of those dudes, it didn't matter what you called him out on, he would still keep bullshittin, he worked with my Dad and the few guys there that rode(Vet's) fuckin idiolized this dude. Mind you, I'm early 20's with a year or 2 riding so I'm nothing special. "Won Mammoth in Vet Pro"......really, I just went there 2 weeks ago, it was so cool, best time of my riding life. I didn't see you there and you're not in the results either. "I went with OTHG" oh, I looked at those results too, you are not listed there either. "No, I was there for sure." Same story with the Vet Nationals EVERY YEAR or the 4 Stroke Nats. According to this guy, he was racing Nascar trucks at Irwindale on Wed nights, this was when trucks just got started in roundy round and he was going to "the show" when Nationwide started. You could never find this guy on a results sheet..............anywhere, it was like he didn't know Al Gore or the internet he created. He qualified for the night show at all 3 Anaheim's every year, but my dad would see him at work on Friday's when back then, it was Friday practice at SX, again, not listed.

The "Grand Finale" was running into him at Perris raceway on practice night, "Mr Vet Pro" sitting on the side of the track watching and see's me coming............you know THAT GUY. He jumps in front of me so he can win practice, hits 1 corner and then the VP Leap Triple thing (under the banner after the finish table, it was running backwards), he hits this thing WFO, in like 1st gear tho, REV Limiter screamin, panic rev's the shit out of it and comes up so fuckin short........breaks both his ankles and next thing, I'm following him and "the bus" with his bike/gear to the hospital cuz I'm the only idiot at the track that even knows this dude...."Mr Sponsored Vet Pro" that knows everyone. He was in a leg Halo for days on one ankle, he shows up at my dad's work on the "disabled list" telling people he did it racing SX and my pops was like "really" and he dropped the dime on him, BAD in front of everyone at work.......the dude was speechless for once. This guys ranks on the "all time Bull Shit list fooo shooo, right up there with that Matthes guy that thinks he is a boxer or something HaHa.

30 years ago a guy I know (and was well known in the sport in the UK) was once in the sauna with me at the gym. It was winter and I said "It's cold out today". He replied "Not really. When I was ice racing in Russia it was that cold that some guy crashed and snapped his nose off".

True story (the story anyway. I somehow doubt that the ice racing or the nose snapping part is)

Used to ride with a guy nicknamed "The Phantom Rider" because every time he hit a big triple jump 3rd gear wide open on his yz250, or cleared some section better than anyone else, just happened to be the one time no one was looking, no witnesses in site.
whats worse is when it happens and its true. one time we went to this pretty technical track, lots of big jumps. and this dude on this old clapped out two stroke thats running like shit wearing some gear from the mids 80s jumps this 85+ uphill double. i mean he rode like hell but i couldnt believe he did it. he looked like he would crash at any minute but he would hit that jump EVERY time

With nothing much happening on the racing scene to talk about, here's a fun game to keep your Vital MX posting skills polished.

We all know "that guy," the one who's claims of moto prowess are, shall we say, "questionable." You know, the one that if you mention Jeremy McGrath he'll say "Yeah, used to train with Jeremy all the time. I remember this one time..." or the guy who claims to have been on a factory team, or to have gone for hookers and blow with ________. Let's all read what wild claims the loser BSer in your neck of the woods has.

In non-moto situations this is the same guy who'll claim to be a black belt, to have been in the CIA or to have been a Navy Seal. There's a good one, there have been only 2500 or so Navy Seals since that programs began, and as one high ranking Navy officer once said, "And I've met at least 12,000 of them!"

And if you can't think of who that World Biggest BS'er in your area might be, then it just might be you!

There's a guy I know who claims to have been "close friends with road racer Wayne Rainey. . He did know a lot about Rainey and his story seemed believable, that is until it came to Rainey's career-ending injury. At that point this guy's story switches to Bubby Shobert's, "Yeah, I was there at Laguna Seca," this guy tells, "...and poor Wayne ended up slamming into some a-hole who was doing burn-outs in a blind corner on the cool down lap." Um, okay.
I qualify in my area...maybe even podium

My son started going out with this girl back in Jan. She told him that when she lived in Michigan she used to Race and she was a B rider, so summer riding season is about to arrive and she says she has to go to the doc cause her back is hurting, says doc says she can't ride it could do damage. Well long story short we found out from her friends and relatives she had been in counseliing for being a compulsive liar and most every thing she said had been lies. Currently not dating Sick Sick

Thanks for digging this up, good read. I dont recall the guys name, but there is a dude around the DFW area that has been bs'ing anyone who will listen. I think he got a chick to buy a bike and then ran off and sold it, leaving her on the hook for the balance. Some local boys should be able to pin point this guy.
